Jeremy, glad you're back up and running after such a long time and effort.

I was bummed to hear about this at last year's Trophy, but I think all this effort has been worth it. Looking really good. I can't wait to see this truck again after all this work.

Give us an update when you get a chance.

Wow, it must be a good feeling to have it running again. Congratulations.

How did your receiver hitch come out on the labs bumper with the rear crossmember moved back to accommodate the aux tank? I requested the same thing on my bumper but the receiver pin is a bit hard to get too, among other things.

Ok, so it's been a week and I talked to James last night about your trip. So....where are the updates?:shakin:

How is it running? Any problems, real or imagined?

Jack

Thanks Jack

It's running strong. I'd like to get some more miles on it to really get a feel for what it's capable of. In 4 Low it crawled like a baby. Just wonderful.

Thanks a lot. It has been a chore to say the least, but it's great to have a running truck again.

I look forward to more of your peppers.

Thank you.

The receiver had to be "Massaged" in order for the hitch pin to fit. As you know, there is very little room for the messaging to occur. It's also a pain to secure the tow chains to the inside fasteners. I had to remove a portion of the hitch (Cut) in order for the hitch to fit properly. I can imagine that the hitch will stay in place and not be removed on a regular basis.

All this added about an hour and a half to hooking up the Chaser for the first time (I was not pleased at the time).

Overall, I am happy with the bumper setup and how everything has turned out. I don't know of another rear bumper that offers the level of protection and options for the 80 as well as the 4x4Labs unit. However, I'm glad I didn't buy the bumper shell kit option as I was originally going to. I have some friends that did so and it looks to be a very time consuming project.

I did buy dual tire carriers as a kit, but I have not had the time to devote to the project yet. Hopefully next weekend. I will say that when I ordered my bumper for dual tire carriers, I did expect the swing outs to come drilled and sleeved in the proper position for my tire size (I gave them this information when I ordered my bumper). After getting my bumper home and mocking up and measuring for the tires, I have discovered that the holes that are there do not fit dual tires.

When I phoned them they said that I probably got the standard arms and that I would need to drill and sleeve them and then send the arms to them and they would re-powder coat them.

That's why the rear bumper is still unfinished. I hope this sheds some light on the bumper.

Too cool, boy was I glad to see you and your truck. Nothing like seeing a friendly a long way from home.

So, got some good garage time in this weekend.

I welded up one of the spare tire carriers. Went to weld up the matching spare tire carrier for the other side, but I ran out of argon. Nice, out of gas on sunday morning. It left time for a few other items to get completed.

Spare tire carrier...needs a twin to be complete.

Summit finally got in my dual gauge pod, so I got the gauges installed and mounted. (When they say trimming is required, they are not joking).

I also mounted my 2m/Ham radio inside the glovebox. I chose this location to prevent prying eyes from seeing/taking it. I like it. You can still shut the door and have the handy mike to speak with. The mike has the majority of controls on it anyways.

Ran the wire through the bulkhead/firewall for the antennae. Mounted the antennae on the standard spot on the ARB. I think I will mount my GPS puck on the driver side mounting hole.

I finally got the rear flares back on after installing the 4x4Labs rear bumper. I was going to go flareless with a Line-X type material. I decided to just get it back together and running well before that next step.

I made a quick trip to the welding shop this morning and got a new bottle of gas. Returned home and finished welding the other spare tire carrier.

Here it is fitted with two 70 series wheels. They are not in their final position. Pictured is the position that the swing-outs came from 4x4Labs (there's not enough room in the pictured position).

I don't think I am going to run the 70 series wheels as they found a home on the HJ45 and I really like them there.

What an odyssey. I can't believe I hadn't seen this thread before.

That's one way to put it. 14 months of mixed emotions, haha. It's funny (Now) when I go back and read it. I can tell when I was frustrated.
