Wow, it must be a good feeling to have it running again. Congratulations.
How did your receiver hitch come out on the labs bumper with the rear crossmember moved back to accommodate the aux tank? I requested the same thing on my bumper but the receiver pin is a bit hard to get too, among other things.
Thank you.
The receiver had to be "Massaged" in order for the hitch pin to fit. As you know, there is very little room for the messaging to occur. It's also a pain to secure the tow chains to the inside fasteners. I had to remove a portion of the hitch (Cut) in order for the hitch to fit properly. I can imagine that the hitch will stay in place and not be removed on a regular basis.
All this added about an hour and a half to hooking up the Chaser for the first time (I was not pleased at the time).
Overall, I am happy with the bumper setup and how everything has turned out. I don't know of another rear bumper that offers the level of protection and options for the 80 as well as the 4x4Labs unit. However, I'm glad I didn't buy the bumper shell kit option as I was originally going to. I have some friends that did so and it looks to be a very time consuming project.
I did buy dual tire carriers as a kit, but I have not had the time to devote to the project yet. Hopefully next weekend. I will say that when I ordered my bumper for dual tire carriers, I did expect the swing outs to come drilled and sleeved in the proper position for my tire size (I gave them this information when I ordered my bumper). After getting my bumper home and mocking up and measuring for the tires, I have discovered that the holes that are there do not fit dual tires.
When I phoned them they said that I probably got the standard arms and that I would need to drill and sleeve them and then send the arms to them and they would re-powder coat them.
That's why the rear bumper is still unfinished. I hope this sheds some light on the bumper.
