Here it is the P-19 build thread. The plan is to remove the water tank and fire fighting equipment and put the box from the ambulance on it. So here we go...

I am sorry you feel that way. My state has already allowed me to title and register it, insurance was inexpensive and easy to get as well. Not sure what P-19 you drove, but this thing is pretty quick for its size. I am not going to defend my craziness, but it is my decision and time to waste. Stick around and enjoy it or read someone else's posts.

How about some background on the vehicle, why you chose it, what you expect when completed, etc? Certainly will be more interesting than the usual pickup with lift kit and RTT.

Okay, long story short, I have been in the military for almost 30 years, these rigs have been rolling around runways all over the world the whole time. They are designed for maintenance and easy to work on. I mean, they are easy for me to work on. I have heard other complain, but always found them to be both challenging and rewarding to maintain. When the opportunity came about to purchase this one, I jumped at it.

I have already swapped out the terrible 25" split rims for 20" HEMTT wheels which opens up tire options and ease of replacement. The next big thing to accomplish is to remove the power transfer unit between the engine and transmission that drives the water pump. They are known for failures and I don't need it on an expedition rig.

The water tank and associated plumbing will all be removed as well.

The driver's seat and steering colum will be moved to the far left position, cause I like sitting by the window when driving. At least moving the air brake pedal and air throttle will be easy.

Mostly, lots of work ahead, but it is my midlife crisis vehicle.

Its a slow start as pieces and parts start arriving, but for now I am jist happy it runs and the tires are holding air! They were not fun to build up.

What's the max road speed of this behemoth? How wide is it?

I like projects but I'm just unsure where one would take and use such a thing.
Enlighten me, please.

I *believe* they are about 102 inches wide, like a bus or semi-trailer.

I do not know the owners’ plans, and it may be dependent on location, more open country and BLM land in the West, and SW of the us versus the east coast.

I can also say, growing up farming and ranching, then firefighting/remote medicine. We took a lot of big equipment into tight areas.

It's about the same size as my ambulance is now, just a little bit longer. I plan to use it for light (gravel roads) off road and to lake side camp sites. The big thing is that it is all wheel drive with locking axles, no more getting stuck on wet grass!

This looks civilian, not military. It doesn’t have CTIS?
According to the Wikipedia article, it carries 70gal of diesel and has a range of 262 miles. The quotient of thst division is 3.74…..
Good luck, curious how it turns out.
