Is this dead? I thought I read somewhere Ursa Minor isn't going to pursue this however... all this being said, my 2 cents.

Something almost exactly like the Flip pac with better water sealing, a good tent and a reliable pivot point would be AMAZING... What I GREATLY like about the Flip Pac is that I get a handful of setups all in one.. 1. 2 people setup with full changing room, 2. 2 people setup and sleeping place for the dogs, 3. 4 people setup by creating a sleeping space in the bed... The versatility and usable room in a Flip Pac seems perfect..

I have an 8ft bed so with a bit of creativity an over engineered versus of a Flip pac would be so awesome and I'd be very interested in one.

I had a Wildernest (similar to a FP), and you are correct...it is very versatile. For 2 of us and a dog, it worked perfect. You get a tent/tree house feeling without
having to setup a tent or sleep on the ground. It was super comfortable that packed pretty small, very small footprint (basically the tires of the truck is the foot print), light weight, and wasn't too complicated.

I'd even still want the unit to flip forward I think... I'm not 100% on that, but I'm certainly not against it. If you rigged it up right so the supports were hard mounted to the truck you'd never have to worry about unstable ground either.

Take the Flip Pac and add an 8ft (thought about how it could even be up to 12ft) awning to one side, got a pretty nice setup there.

Need the flip to be reliable + Good and dry both inside and around all the seals/windows with a killer tent...IMHO the Flip Pac is close to being a hell of a unit, just needs to be brought into 2013

I had a bicycle rack on it, in the open position. I used to hang towels, wet clothes, etc. It didn't need the support poles, as it was supported by aircraft cables on the inside. Poles were used to take the sway out of the suspension, but I never used them.

With it flipping to the side, it feels bigger on the inside, bigger area to throw stuff during the day, since you're on the side of the bed and not the end of it...though when walking around outside, I have run into it while not looking. Also nice to have a little area to toss on the ground that is sorta covered by the open top.

But everyone's needs are different.

Yes totally agree.

Yeah, with an 8' bed you have a dance hall there. :)
