It is looking great, except for the mirrors. They seem out of place. Maybe if the arm wasn't so tall?

I should have explained more fully. I have scads (at least 6 sets) of squarebody mirrors - my plan is use parts from them to make the mirrors look right. While I think 'just' an arm change is necessary, I may go full monte since I have them apart and put features in the glass (like heating elements).

and while considering, I'm also thinking about just removing the plastic bits (the cover and the mirror cover, paint those then attach them to a GM made mirror set. Then I get a matte black mirror base cover and mirror cover - which follows more closely the theme of the truck.

how is this related? my plan going forward is that this is the rig we take those trips in....

first remove bend bits

and then paint the upper side of the core support

a bit of evaporust removal.... in a convenient bucket

more rust addressing

fenders start install... nothing is lining up easily

That looks funny with those donuts. Can't wait to see it with the larger tires.

Are you going to move the front axle forward. On the donuts it looks like it is far towards the back of the wheel well.

I look funny trying to reach over the truck with those tires on it.... soon, very soon.... - maybe after I put the hood on - all my helpers are vertically challenged so I need to keep it low for them.

for those wondering, my frame machine thinks its a forklift... silly frame machine

it would be nice if LMC truck gave instructions on how their clips work... thinking they may need to be augmented with epoxy....

leave the polish, paint everything else a flat black or grey

so now it's a flat black that looks dark grey

with the chrome, it won't look so dark but there it is....

one thing, though, I hate ordering from LMC because invariably I don't order enough of something and extras of other stuff. Example, I have enough hood bumpers to complete 3 trucks now, but not enough chrome strips to finish this grill.... on top of that, I need the plastic screw inserts... ah well...

Out of curiosity, are you going to cut the front fender flare to fully expose the signal light?

no - the flare is designed to step around it...

then a few tacks

then new test fit

then remove some foam that got onto the parts from the packing

I'm sure that's good for the atmosphere
then a bit of random assembly... still haven't decided what I'm doing with the center stripe here - I'm tempted to leave it white

and paint wiper arms

then put new motors on the regulators

drill through and plug weld from the back

yep, bought the book... I have to take the tailgate a bit apart again because I forgot a piece - not a big deal, but with these drawings, the chance of that happening again is lessened... it's not like this will be my last square

moving to place where I'll be skiing... need heated mirrors

put solid zerts in place

these look so much better then those plastic ones

then worked on assembling the grill... of course, finding the nuts for the signals was the next challenge (and one I haven't won)

got a new faceplate for the dash

then welded more on the bumper

one note, 2 things prevent me from welding up in one go: 1) if I did, it would warp, and 2) my welder has a 20% duty cycle (20% of 10 minutes) - thus, if I kept welding the weld would get progressively worse because it couldn't maintain constant voltage through the wire.

I suppose if these had shown up earlier, they would be my seat choice... that said, $60 and I couldn't pass them up

great shape, needs a bit of repair but power, heated and comfortable from a H3
