Looks and sounds good.

Will it be on display at SEMA?

It was a top day.... Since snow is forecast, probably a good time to get them ready for winter
them?
well the FJ40 too
summer

not summer
bNHDnpZh.jpg

let's try that with the Blazer
oh wait... first I need to move the forklift.
which would be easy if I knew where the keys went
then, of course, it's not ready to be put on anything
pressure wash
RAgzCPqh.jpg

first round got most of the dirt
7eXmb5lh.jpg

then soap

then sticker removal
RAgzCPqh.jpg

cleaned up okay

then on the truck

next up is paint. I have new seals, but I needs some help in the paint department

got the panels for the door

before the uproar... I'm getting the belts rewebbed. None of the aftermarket products have the door popper that Blazers have. Meaning, big, ugly hole if I don't reuse them.

Have I ever mentioned I'm not a fan of aftermarket panels?
note, 2 screw holes to hold the windwing in place

missing something?
rrreXCCh.jpg

they forgot to drill this hole
gU7ywoEh.jpg

we take this moment to not destroy a door while unsticking a regulator that somehow managed to get caught in the glass channel
glue the pads in place

and the other

now that I've calmed back down.
glass in driver's door
cp162OOh.jpg

glad I put sound deadener in it... so less tinny
KZyfLKBh.jpg

a tip. These things are good tell on how good the rebuilder is.... they go under the screw that holds the windwing in place. Forget them and the door will squeak and rattle (well, squeak and rattle more)

I did forget to put the mirror braces in... ah well, tomorrow

the long, dark tea-time of the build. It's where it's forever Tuesday - you do stuff, but nothing seems to get done. Thankfully, I know it will end but it's still only Thursday (deep, huh?)
I do think I made a wise choice adding the red accent to the interior. No, no red seat belts. to illustrate what this is like

if you
fetch

if you have a desire to have attractive, topless ladies in your rig... go for it, otherwise, we will leave this to the people who can build cool vehicles

Now that I've completely lost your attention
back to that tea time. I finished the doors
7oixl0w.jpg

and went onto the tailgate
1YiAe68.jpg

you'd think that in all of those parts, would be all the parts I need.
aHMGRO1.jpg

you would be wrong
see that bracket? there should be 2. I didn't take this apart so I get to spend the rest of my time looping around shop trying to figure out where that one piece went
FBkePtc.jpg

woohoo?

maybe if I went with red seat belts, no one would notice I don't have a rear window?

if no one has yet guessed, beside being my overland rig, this will also likely be my daily when the Colorado taps out (I do have plans for the 2.8 duramax/trans getting a new life in a yet to be purchased H3, but another story for another day)...

Which leads me to creature comforts. While I do get cruise control on 40s with a detroit locker may add some spice to my life on wet/snowy days, the truth is I'm going to drive this thing. So it will have a full electronics package. AM/FM radio, XM, GPS along with separate radio(s) for CB and HAM (a note on CB/HAM combos - your HAM radio, if it broadcasts 26.9xx to 27.4xx will broadcast on CB frequencies - albeit, do not broadcast at 45v please.) I like separate radios - HAM is my messenger, CB is FB. Add to all of this that, if you don't have ministarlink, you can transmit to the internet via a relay.... any, I digress, point is I want it all and I've been looking at options.

I'll get to that but today's update

I glued on rubber. Also worked on other boringish stuff
m1L7abYh.jpg

JoAFOlph.jpg

started flattening carpet for install
mOX0rtNh.jpg

then spent quality time getting the top ready for 'paint'
UDzCNuHh.jpg

then realized I didn't have adhesion promoter as recommend by SEM so here we sit
S92AfJ0h.jpg

also got the bumper off to finish it and paint it as well
hi0bFSAh.jpg

back to radios. Initially I was thinking removing the ashtray then making a double din space. I like it from the 'makes the screen more seeable for passengers - but the reality is I can simulcast to a tablet - which would be more helpful to a navigator.
then comes the question, am I really going to bring CDs with me? and if I were, why not a second stereo in the camper?

so - what do you like? I'm thinking Pioneer DMH-WT6000nex. A 4 or 6 channel amp, tweeters on the dash, 5 1/4 at the kick panels, 2 6x9 in the passenger area and a subwoofer either between the front seats or all the way in the back. I do like my Johnny Cash metal crossovers.

If I were you I would use hidden audio and just connect your phone and use it as the hidden audio controller. Most have hands free and you can use your phone for everything. Then when needed, you can use a tablet for a navigator and it will also connect. Usually up to 3 screens.

Out of sight audio, Clarion, RF, etc. There are many to choose from, and it opens you up to not have to cut up your dash as technology changes. Generally you always have your phone, and you can Ram mount it and/or tablets fairly easy.

Thank you for the suggestion.

On the way back from SEMA this year, there were speed traps in S. Utah and East Idaho. Google pointed them out. Having the big screen to see what was coming is something I like (and probably saved me about 1 stereo cost). Also, no cutting up, the stereo is a single din with a large screen that attaches in front of the panel.

Yes I saw it and it looks nice. Was just speaking in general terms. And it all depends on how easy you can see that screen etc. Definitely many different ways to accomplish your goals however. What you have done thus far looks amazing.
