Ok, worked I won't tell you how many hours wiring in the brake controller EXACTLY like the manual said. Got a matching blue wire to run back to the trailer plug, used butt connectors to attach the wire to the brake switch. and ran the ground strait to the battery (-) as suggested, and also ran the power straight to the battery via a newly aquired 20A resetting breaker as suggested.

Ok anyone guess the problem yet?

anyone? Spoiler alert!

The power is always on!

So where in the heck to I have to wire 12ga wire through the ignition and then on to my breaker and then to the battery??? I don't get it. When I have installed stereo's there is the wire to the ignition and the one to the battery, I guess I assumed the wire to the break switch is the equivelent, but no.

Help.

What brake controller did you get? Is there a copy of the manual online? If so post up a link and I'll take a look and see if I can offer any pointers.

Mike

p.s. I was in Boise last weekend for state basket ball tournament. Wanted to give you a shout but just didn't have enough time to get everything done. I'm sending you an email.

OK, false alarm. The contoller seems to go off on a timer. So when I entered the Jeep the next time, it was off untill I pressed the brake. We are all good and it works famously!!! So excited leaving for southern UT this friday!!

Glad you got it worked out, now enjoy the trailer, and be sure to take some good shots of it "in use". Mike did a hell of a job on it, hope you enjoy for many years to come.

Well that was a resounding success!!

I started out with the tounge out the 3 feet that it adjusts for freeway stability, we got the worst gas milage of the trip, after I shortened it up at the first small highway/dirt road in Utah, I never returned it to long mode, and it was just as smooth on the freeway at 75-80 mph.

It is awesome to be able to make and break camp in <2hours each!! And that is without some sure fine tuning and added conveniences that will be happening throughout the summer. Here are the mostly trailer centric pictures here, and I will post again some more trip pics in the completed adventures section. We had a blast.

Leaving in the not too early AM.

Ive been following this thread from the begining. Awesome trailer! Nice to see pics of it being used!

I have a couple of questions for You.....

What is the distance from the center of the trailer axle to the hitch on the tongue after You shortened it?

So Your saying that shortening the tongue increased the mileage?

Now that I sold My Willys I have $ to get started on My trailer build.
I too have a 4 door Wrangler that I'll be towing it with so I might copy Your axle to hitch measurement if it seems to work well with Your set up.

Thanks!

Yeah, I think that shortening the tongue pulls the trailer up into the airstream of the truck. I've made an extendible tongue for mine too.

This was exactly my theory as to why it happened. If the chassis is well built (Thanks Mike!) I think there is no need to have it longer.

Thanks guys! I am super excited to keep customizing it, and keep enjoying it, it suits my style very well!

ps I'll measure that distance later tonight or this weekend.

Ahhh, that makes sense, geting the trailer into the airstream of the Jeep.
Thanks a lot for measuring for Me! :)
