Ram is better yet, Ford still locks a lot of things into packages.

"Oh, you want the nicer radio... not in an XL" type of crap. Ram is a lot more open.

You can get an 8" Sync 3 in the XL. Funny thing is, the base trim Ram (Tradesman) doesn't offer a bigger screen even as an option--only the stock 5" screen. But Ram is nice as well. You can get a lot of options a la carte.

Sorry in my bouncing all over truck shopping I had my wires crossed.

To get the bigger radio in a Ranger you have to go XLT.

Although to get it in a Super Duty you have to add the STX package (and some other things most people want anyway like power windows)

Ram shows a 8.4" display for the 2500 Tradesman as a sole $900 option

I see. I guess it makes sense to limit options in a lower volume vehicle.

The XLT pricing is crazy right now, though. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to go XL when you can get an XLT for the same price, if not cheaper. I mean, $27-28k for XLT with FX4? Sheesh. That's $5-7k cheaper than a Tacoma TRD.

I don't like the wheels and want a rubber floor. XL/STX is where I would probably end up with given my druthers but my stupid little Garmin I got for my '85 spoiled me having a GPS in a vehicle so I started exploring factory options for that.

I want/need a new dd but the funding ain't there so it is all kinda neither here nor there.

I think you can get the rubber floors instead of carpet on XLT's. Would probably require custom ordering a truck though as it's not likely to be stocked at a lot.

You can delete the carpet on a F-150.

They only seem to stock Lariat trucks or not far from a Lariat loaded XLTs around here so pretty much anything I would want would be a custom order anyway

I don't see an option for rubber floors, but this could be region/country specific.

Either case, though, there are so many good floor liners available (ie Husky, WT, etc), makes getting rubber floors a moot point. I like the liners, as I can take them out for a thorough cleaning. Carpet underneath looks pristine.

Yeah, maybe a regional thing? I know you can delete the carpet here. Never seen a truck with carpet delete though. I'd love to get rid of the carpet in my truck.

You could probably order the rubber floor from Rock Auto, yank the seats and door sills, and just put it in. I’d bet you could do it in a day.

But realistically, carpet cleans easily if you do it often enough. And nobody is hosing out a newer truck. There are electronics everywhere under the seats and dash.

I wouldn't hose it out. But a quick vac and bottle of spray nine works pretty good on vinyl floors.

Honestly, while I used to envy the availability of carpet deletes on Superdutys I don't anymore. I have a friend with one and the matts just slip around all over the place so dirt ends up everywhere. In my carpet truck, the matts hold tight so dirt stays in the matts and not all over the darn place. I think they have a place in work trucks where you have employees that don't care but not quite as much in an owner driven truck that gets taken care of.

Ha ha, signals continue get mixed up. I thought 85 Ranger was talking about a Ranger.

But like I said, rubber mats make this a moot point. And as Bayou said above, no one is hosing out their trucks. Not only water splashing up, but I do not want the water seeping through and getting to some of the wiring underneath. No thanks.

When I had a rubber floor in my Ranger I could just sweep out the sand, gravel and whatever.

My F-150, requires the vacuum... oh crap is that a stain?

As long as the rubber floor doesn't have a hole you can do just about whatever to it and it will still look like new after you clean it.

It pained me to put carpet in my Ranger but nobody reproduces the tan rubber floor anymore and mine had a hole worn in it where my foot pivots between the gas and brake... and the shifter holes were wrong.

STX has the 8" display and vinyl floors.

If you use Google car play, you can use your Phones GPS/WAZE on the 8" display and it smokes the OEM navigation.
