Time to "Re-tire"...

I am ready to buy a new set of tires, for my 1996 'Overy I. It has a 3" lift and plenty of above-tire clearance. Currently running: Wild Country TXR, LT245/75R16, Load range "E". (They rub the inside wheel wells at full lock).

I want a more aggressive, self cleaning, tread - don't mind tire noise with more flotation, for our Florida sand and mud.

Intended use 70% paved 30% unsurfaced...

I would apreciate: comments, suggestions and experiences with a good tire for my application.

Thanks...

Thanks!

Thank you Kellymoe...

Great price too. I am going to order five of the "Warden's" in my tire size. I appreciate the tip.

Timmy...

Big Cypress Wildlife Area, is one of the places we frequent. They have several clasification of ORV's and a strict inspection program. They require "Minimum 9" of tread face" I want to make sure that whatever tire I get, it will meet that 9" minimum.

Of course you are correct about the current reduction in my turning radius due to the wider than normal tires...

Thanks for your input.

Probably either floatation in the mud or digging down and getting stuck on the frame rails, if I had to guess.

I've never heard of those tires. They are definitely priced right. Has anyone used the Axioms? I would like to get those for a winter tire. Looks like they would be good in the snow and ice. Anyone have any experience with them?

I believe the perception is that the wider tires will minimize the damage to the earth. Fat chance! All the giant tire, Yahoos tear it up anyway. Nothing against Yahoos. I probably am one. Just stating the facts... :truck:

The more mud on their trucks the happier they are.

if there's no bottom to the mud, a wider tire can have it's advantages. have you considered 285/75? That's roughly 33" in diameter, and easily meets your width requirements. Aired down would give you a bit of float. Adjust your turn stops to get rid of the rubbing. Or consider offset wheels, or using wheelspacers.
