Tire time

Oil eater.
I see vehicles at the shop I use come in with 17" rims and 37's with high mileage all the time.
That being said a 9" rim in whatever size would be ideal for the MT's.
The MT's were the most solid tire I've run. Just too loud for me.
The newer trucks have better insulation and to be honest the MT's aren't too noticeable

im going to give you some information you're not going to want to hear

you need to run a 20" rim if you want your tires to live and stay quiet
I want the sidewall for flex vs a 20 inch rim. You don’t think the 4300 lb load rating (e rated) won’t be up to the task?

Yeah I have not heard one bad thing about the Toyo mt, I’ve ran the at and the rt. I hate the rt and love the at, we will see how the mt does. I have had issues with getting the rt clogged in Illinois clay during hunting season, I feel the mt will clean out much better. I am selling my AEV rims, I really like them but milking them by hand has caused me balance issues, no local shop will put them on their milling machine due to “liability”. I just ordered a set of race, one avenger “dodge truck” rims.

Post pictures when you get the tires. I am thinking about the MT's same size as you, need the capacity because I just bought a 3500 cab chassis

its absolutely up to the task - the point is though that the more rigid profile of the 20" rimmed tires are more adept at keeping the face of the tire square to the road surface than the 17's, which are better at manipulating uneven surfaces. there is no doubt the 17 is better for off-road use, but the 20 is just better for street.

There is also the option of a compromise 18" wheel with 37" tires. For example, 37" ridge grappler (hybrid on/off road) E rated 3,968 lbs at 65 PSI with Method HD wheels rated at 4,500 lbs in +18 offset.

That makes sense,8 didn’t think about that.

Just got them today, waiting on new rims. Do you want a pic of them not mounted? So far they look around the same height as a 37x12.50... just allot wider. I got to mention these tires are very very heavy, more than 12.50’s.

You now have the strongest tires available. You can never go wrong with the Toyo MT 37x13.5, there is no comparison.

I wish there were more 131 load index tires available.

IMO the only negatives for the MT's are noise,I can barely hear the Cummins, decreased MPG and right pull, the positives outweigh the negatives. When I first got them they were loud, I came around a corner on the freeway and the two cops that were talking by the side of the road spun around and gave me an intense look, they either really liked my truck or they were trying to find something to pull me over for. They do quite down and smooth out pretty quickly.

Yes I’ve heard they are a very strong tire in that particular size. I’ve heard nothing but great things about them.

I’ve heard they are super quiet and get louder. I’m planning a long trip into Canada late in June, I was going to wait until a week prior to putting them on. Should I put them on sooner and break them in?
