I have been slowly building my 4runner but have now stop 3d to deside on how to mount my shovel and axe. I want them in the truck but don't want them loose in the trunk any ideas?

I've seen some quickfists added to the hatch on the inside and people added tools to those. If they are inside you would want to make sure they are tightly secured so that they do not become missiles in an accident or roll over.

This is an Xterra but the idea is the same.

Ya I'm thinking something over the wheel well my 4runner has a drop down tail gate that I am going to put aluminum on and use it as a place to cook and work on things

Well my 4runner was smashed by a falling tree so I am replacing it with a xterra I'm thinking shovle on the lift gate and axe over the wheel well. I might end up getting the highlift tool kit and put molle panels in the rear to strap camping gear to and 1 fire extinguisher on the gate and one under the drivers seat. Then I just need to find a home for my tool kit.

That axe you're trying to mount isn't the one that felled the tree into your 4runner is it? If so, leave that axe in the garage.

No. That was wind and tree rot parked in my naborhood.
