Tools added to project PW

Added a fiberglass handled Ax and Shovel to my Power Wagon project...
See photos...
Used Quick Fist clamps to mount them to the back of my Active Gate.

Added a picture showing the gate pushed forward as well...

Pictures also show how the gate can be rotated to access the tools with the bed cover closed. With the gate pushed all the way ahead I only lost 4" of bed length. I can also tilt the gate up for carrying long items. I pull the whole gate out when I put the camper on and move the tools to the back of the camper on a second set of clamps. I post those pictures when I get the camper put back on the truck in June.

Excellent. Tell us some more about this active gate thing. I'm not familiar with it. And how 'bout some details on the sidewall storage boxes? Those look pretty sharp. Haven't seen them before, either.

More on Active-gate...

The active-gate system is a complete tool box, bed liner and locking cargo "wall" or gate in one package... Right now the system is only available directly from Dodge dealers.

The tool boxes run the entire length of the truck bed and have flip out lids, meaning the lids articulate up and in toward the inside of the pickup bed. It's hard to explain so I will take some pictures to post up later.

The boxes fit around the wheel humps so they have more storage area in front and behind, but there is still enough space for longer items to be stored. For example, I've put canoe paddles and fishing rods in the boxes at full length. The boxes are water tight and have built in drain plugs. They talk about using them as coolers as well.

The bed liner is a two piece affair, the base "floor" and front bed panel are separate parts, then the boxes slide in and secure with hand knobs into threaded blocks where the factory bed tie downs use to be. So the whole system can be removed without tools. But when the lids are locked, everything is secure.

My favorite part is the "active-gate" which is the moveable locking mid gate... it allows you to position the gate anywhere along the length of the bed and locks into the row of notches on each storage box face. Works great for keeping the groceries from sliding to the front of the bed! As I've shown the gate will also swing up and lock in a flat "raised" postion if you need extra length. You can also run the gate to the rear of the bed and just lift it out. I do this when I put the camper on the truck for example.

The only negative I've got with the system is the access with my current tonneu cover... the cover rails exend over the storage box openings a bit and limit the size of the items I can get into the boxes. I've gotten around this by using a assortment of soft bags (mostly cheap back packs) to divide up my gear... the bags help keep the small items organized and allow the pack to conform to the box opening during loading/unloading.

I'll shoot some more pictures when I get a chance....

Nice setup! I thought about getting an activegate for my ram but I have too many items that just don't fit in them. They're great storage systems for sure though.
