Are you still seeing a wait-to-start light?

If not, fuel bowl heater may have failed. When it fails it blows a fuse.

Happens to be on the same circuit as the PCM

Ken,
Really glad everyone and everything wound up ok.

My only experience with refusal to start has been electrical, so I'm not of much help besides checking to make sure the posts for battery connections are all snug. I moved my rig on just the alternator and it was sluggish and iffy.

On the plus side your vinyl wrap guy out-did himself! Now everything is one big tax write-off! Did it get new paint too?

Sorry to hear about your crazy ordeal! Glad you were able to save it....if you changed the CPS and had no luck, a possible bad idm or icp sensor comes to mind considering you can get it to start.

Gemini,
What motor does the international have??

T444E, 7.3L very much like yours except w/o the Ford add-ons.
I have pre-99.5s and post 99.5's (you can tell by the Turbo configuration)

The one that is giving me the problem is a 2000. I need to start at the fuel tank and work my way forward. I hope it isn't the fuel pump, that is such a pain to replace.

Did you check the health of your batteries? The T444E is a bit unforgiving PITA if your battery charge isn't topped off.

Clean all the battery connectors and check the health of the batteries first before you start shelling out $$ on every sensor. Start with the simple things first.

No no new paint just wrapped right over it.

Still freaked out about how bad it could have been. Had the flatbed or my front wheels been angled differently it could have ghost ridden into the other lane which had oncoming traffic.

I think I will look into the icp next. I still have a donor 7.3 so can experiment a bit.
The cps I put in was brand new, but the grey color one.

Batteries are pretty fresh, but I'll go through all the connections as a precaution.
It died while driving without much warning. Within about 1/3 or a mile it started running rough smoothed out went rough smoothed out then lost power then stalled.
Having the donor truck will hopefully help me experiment before buying anything expensive.
My goal is to get it as reliable as possible so I don't mind adding new parts for peace of mind.
I'm glad it happened locally not on my x-country trip this past summer.

I also agree with checking the connections.

Cjken, do you have a scangauge II to chk parameters while cranking?(I.e. Icp pressure , ipr %, voltage etc)

That tow truck looks a bit small for a 9,000lb ambulance :Wow1: :yikes: Those H1 rims look good, the wrap is not fooling anyone...H1 rims scream SWAT van!

CPS failure is pretty common, I replaced mine and keep a spare in the glove box.
When cranking, do you get any smoke? white? grey? black? If no smoke, it could be fuel pump.
Check the Fuel pump? I had my fuel pump die on mine (1996 7.3L PSD) felt like it just ran out of fuel and wouldn't fire. The fuel pump is fun to change since it's under the turbo. In a truck, you can do it without removing the turbo, not sure about the van.
