TrailWerks Racks? $1600?!?!?!

One question: What's the motivation behind the original post?

This is a brand I had never heard of, and I don't get why this Roof Rack would cost nearly $2000. I posted it up to see what others had to say, if anyone had ever heard of them - or owned one, or could justify the price.

I would love to have a Low-Profile rack like this one for my FJ62, so I was gauging others' thoughts to see if others shared my assessment. ...or if I should expect to pay $1500+?

I hope my reasoning and motivation for posting meets with your satisfaction.

Good times.

The company is gobi racks. They've been around for a long time. And the rack is much more than some bent tubes welded together. Pricey yes but it's all a matter of perspective. If you want the pu pu plater you must pay... Good luck with your project. Let's compare pictures of our racks when you're done :victory::smiley_drive:

It looks nice. If I had the cash and was looking for a rack, it might be on my list.

Since many 80 racks fit 60s, I wonder if this could fit an 80?

FWIW and in case you weren't aware Front Runner makes a nice low profile t-slot style and very versatile rack (aluminum) for LCs.

$900 for a 60 series version: http://www.campinglab.com/rooftrack.html
And Fernando had a free shipping deal going (not sure if that is still in effect or not).

I have one coming for my 100.

I guess we all inquire for advice in different ways...

Had you guys going eh.....

But for the money....A BajaRack is the ticket! This EXpedition rack would be the ticket! Add some Light Forces and your set!

Or....

The ARB rack is another great choice for a little more money.

Hey Nic, know if the Baja racks come in a wider and longer size?

i have an AO from SA on my 100 and it was 1000.

its 10 times the rack that is. the sliding eyes that run in the Al extruded side and floor rails are da bomb. you gotta be nuts to pay that, for tube and mesh.

They make a Baja Rack without the little bit of basket in the front so it's completely flat. Designed for larger RTT's. Also I have the Front Runner low profile and love it.

Ozarkroozer,
Did you have to remove the stock roof rack for the Front Runner to fit or did yours not come with the factory roof rack?

Yes, you have to remove the factory rack. I just removed the crossbars and left the ribs, the rack clears those. I'd say regardless get rid of the oem rack, their rust magnets. I didn't have much rust underneath, I filled the holes with stainless steel screws, rubber washer, stainless washer, silicone over the whole thing.
