Good news, the wire for #1 spark plug was bad. New wires on the way. I have a loaner installed at the moment from 145,000 mile Monty that is being rebuilt. Engine definitely runs much smoother on all 6 cylindersNow you can really hear the cracked exhaust manifold on the passenger side. Sigh.....
Are you going with a Chinese knockoff or used OEM for the manifold? The passenger side takes about 1/3 of the time the driver side does so you are lucky, I have replaced both sides in the last 2 months and would probably rather eat dirt than have to do the driver side again. But then again, I didn't know the driver side was cracked until after I replaced the passenger side and heard it.

LOL, I feel your pain. My limited mechanical skills were rapidly exceeded when contemplating the driver side exhaust manifold. Just simply getting access to the bolts was more than I could manage, so I paid a mechanic a crap ton of money to do it. I now own an impact wrench and a few sockets and extensions, so possibly I can do the passenger side myself, but I am out of lunch money for a few months, so I don't envision doing it anytime soon, unless O2 sensor fouls and the whole engine takes another dive as a consequence. I can live with the burly clatter

Where do you get a used OEM version?

I might know of a 95 and two 96 models for parts, not sure on the condition of the manifolds but one of the three should be good.
