Tucson area trail run on Dec 24th?

I am considering it. I'll let you know closer to the date.

I wanted to go on Jeffry Scotts' run on the 16th ,but, I have to work.

There is also Las Cienegas, Empire Ranch. You can go nearly all dirt from Corona de Tucson to get down there.

Or Chiva to Chimney to Mt Lemmon back road to Ski Run, get chili at the Iron Door.(Long day, plus, I would assume they would be closed on Christmas Eve...)

This is out in Reddington past mile post 16(?) cool area...easy though.

I might be a player, would a stock 4Runner 4th generation do, or should I take the LX-450 stock with 285' tires? I am very familiar with the Lexus, however I am not sure of the 4Runner because of the low ground clearance.

Do we have times and a meeting place in mind.
I will be departing on the 23rd at 8:00 P.M and spending the night in Tucson. If everything goes as plan...

Sorry about the delay...

I'm waiting to hear from Chris, but I think I may lean toward Rice Peak. It seems to be a trail neither of us have run...

Hope to get back here soon...

Ed

No worries, I have no real plans for that day. I might see if a friend wants to go too...now if I can get him to take a break from playing World of Warcraft...

OK...here's the scoop...

We've decided to do Rice Peak. :wings:

We'll meet at the Circle K in Catalina (up near the Catalina Marina) at 7:30 AM Sunday December 24th. We'll roll out no later than 8:00 AM. Sooner if everyone who is expected to go arrives earlier.

I expect about a half day, home by mid-afternoon.

Any takers?

Looks like Becky and I are an almost-positive for attending. Looks like we'll see ya in Roklimo. Rice used to be one of my top few favorite trails until they graded the whole thing 2+ years ago. I hope some challenge has returned?

They GRADED it?
Sheesh, I hope not.
But it will be great to see you.
You can take the point since we haven't been before...

After the Aspen Fire. A Rav4 could have run it afterwards. A lot has happened since. Plus, there's a different exit road that was never graded. Should be fun!

Did they grade it to get the fire equipment back in there?

Yep. All but the east loop and the last climb to the summit. They did have to do something. We were in there (keep in mind I knew the trail VERY WELL) after summer floods (before grading) and turned around. Downed trees, huge washouts, massive rocks. We were alone. Wish it a been a group day!

Ed: We're running behind on to-do's now. Tomorrow's run is a "maybe" now. We're still hoping. We're never late so if we're not there by 8AM we won't make it. Don't want to hold ya up! IF we miss it have fun!

Just talked with Chris, and we're still "Go" for tomorrow...
:av-7:
John, we'll see you if we see you...
Kermit, you still coming?

:)
