U.P. Overland 2009

I'd be willing to do a longer (time or track wise) expo next year. Spending a day in an area that would allow some trail hiking and kayaking would be great. I'd even be willing to help research some of the spots. Either way, mark me down as a returnee for next years overland.

I agree with Frank in possibly moving the timeline up a week for those in the education field. After my wife saw everyones pics she was bummed that she missed out on all the fun.

Well, if you have a list going for next year make sure we are on it...

As far as dirty engine compartments go, well you all seen how dirty my Jeep was on the outside. yeah, it was worse on the inside! I have the vital area's sealed pretty good in the engine compartment so no big deal. I also spray it all down with simple green full strength, let is soak in for a bit and hose it off with the garden hose, comes pretty clean. I don't really see the need for a snorkle, i'm good with water depth up to my headlights in extreme cases but at that depth it would get in my t-case and trans probably, and also ruin more stuff inside.

The UP trip looks like it was a great time. The pics are beautiful.
I hope to take some time to get up there next year. Hopefully, I won't have any conflicts next year.

I take mine to the self spray car wash and spray the engine with that. Sounds extreme but I've been doing it for years on all my cars without any problems, I just don't go too heavy on the areas like fuse boxes. Everything else can take it. I've lost a couple of aftermarket relays but that's about it, and if they're not waterproof, they need to be replaced with sealed units anyway. Works great. You'd need to bring a ladder Mark! 10 bucks in quarters wasn't enough for the whole vehicle after this trip, finished at home with a garden hose.

I would love to see that bomber and the paulding lights next year! I think the lights sounds cool but very creepy...

They are pretty creepy but super cool.

Thanks for the feedback so far every one. Jason and I have teamed up with Tom (iron eagle) to try to take the event to the next level for next year. Hopefully we'll be announcing some exciting new stuff soon as well as a new website for the event info. I believe Jenn is putting some final touches on the next segment of video as well. Stay tuned!

So a smaller group would be perfect for camping at Paradise ( North of Christmas, MI ). We went camping out there this past weekend and hiked in the 1/2 mi or so to an isolated spot. There are a couple of fire rings at the parking area too.

An idea for an off-shoot trip sometime?

Pics from this weekend
