Kenton,
I could tell Max was having the time of his life. He seems like a very good kid. I will always cherish a trip I had with my dad when we took his Vette to Bowling Green, KY in '97 (I was a lot older than Max when I had my dad-trip). Just the 2 of us and we had an awesome time. He passed way 3 years ago today but I will always think of that trip. I am glad you had a great time and it was great meeting you and your son and I am sure both of you will always remember it.
Cool TLC you have and I still don't know how you run those tires without rubbing!
Thanks Brett. My 'cruiser doesn't rub cuz it don't flex all that much maybe.

Continuing with my travelogue...
We woke up the 2nd morning (Thursday) on the beach near the mouth of the Huron, after getting some rain that night, and put our tent away wet and sandy. Max had tried to catch some fish that previous evening, without luck. We headed out at 9am for another fun day, with Kristian "I see another Hawk!" blazing trail. We spent that next night near Harlow Lake if I recall correctly, setting our tent up in the rain at the edge of a stream. Although wet outside, and with a slow leak in Max's air mattress that meant we had to get up at 3am the rest of the nights, we slept actually very well the rest of the time.
We went into town, stocking up on ice and food, I hand-washed the truck (to keep some mud out of the back of my SUV tent), and ate a Pasty at Jean Kays (if I remember the name right).
That night our little group was joined by some newcomers, DAve "slumlord" and Joan, Frank "california cool", and Brendan and Wendy "Land Cruz". We got up at oh-dark-30 the next morning, breaking down the tent in the dark, to make it to Marquette for the meeting, where everyone else joined us.
The rest of the trip was a continuous stream of great moments and memories-- some rain and crazy wind at Munising, mud (which although not my favorite, is better than dust), great stories from Jo and Hod "a camel ate my car!", and campfire stories from Brian and Oscar "Ozzie", Jerry "going to Shanghai", Ian "shooting porcupines eating salty ax-handles", Dave "E-19! B-5!" and Sean and his family of the Green Green Valley (who bounced a ball off of the fire, off of Sean, and as a matter of fact Max caught it!).
Saturday and Sunday were back to good weather, and it was great to end on a high note. Plenty of good picture opportunities at dunes, lighthouses, and forest roads.
Some people I just didn't happen spend much time with, but from the little we did talk, really wish I could've, are: Tim "almost bought an FJ" and JoEllyn, and Tom "my dog ain't ugly".
I really regretted having to peel off at Vermillion road on Sunday, I wish the week didn't have to end so soon.
Later,
Lorax
