Here's the fun side :)

Yeti jockey box, fridge with drop down slide, big ol stove, lots of kitchen storage. Control box above the fridge has the solar control, stereo, some power ports and the fuse panel.

Ill have to take or find a pic of the other side. More storage and the bathroom area. Up top there's not much to see, a big box with a bed!

Here's the D side. As you can see the bathroom is at the back, it has an on demand hot water heater and we're packing 50 gallons of water, tank is in the forward section that also acts as a massive storage area.

And the roof! Went a bit overkill with the panels but I never want to plug this thing up. 320 watts, I haven't seen the battery capacity go below 86% yet.

The entire camper is aluminum. Tried to keep the weight down, especially for the top. Weighed every piece and it totals 400. (the top) Right now it has air cylinders to lift the but they suck! Have to re do that with something more powerful. They're rated for 150ea, 4 total and they won't lift it.

We're not going into the camper business, no desire to do that! I built this specifically for my needs over the next few years so it may not meet everyones criteria. I designed it after having the XP on the flat bed and generally hating it. Constantly up & down the ladder, re arranging the interior to eat, sleep, use the bathroom, etc. This is much easier to load and camp from, the idea is to be outside anyway, right?

Regarding the design of the "camper":

Maybe ditch the air cylinders for electric screw jacks? Timing all four could be a pain, though I imagine you have the same problem with air. Maybe a cable/chain system with central cylinder/s, similar to the hobbyist, garage car lifts sold all over?

I dig the security afforded by dropping a solid housing down over the entire get-up when not at camp. Similar to a design someone did on a 70 series or maybe a LandRover if I remember right. I'll dig up the reference and post it.

Well done!

By the way, drooling over that camp site shot with the fall colors coming in. Out here in CA its sand, dirt, or ever-green. (Not complaining, "grass is always greener" and all.)

Yes, the grass is always greener. I miss the Sierras BAD! I've been looking at some actuators, found one that I'll be calling about today. I'd like to find something that will fit in the space I have the air cylinders now, inside a piece of 2x2 at each corner.

Why dont you just use some hydraulic rams like they sell at the farm store? I think you can order different sizes, and they would lift 400 lb with no problem. You'd need one electric/hydraulic pump, small reservoir for the fluid, and some plumbing. You might be able to synchronize the 4 different rams by putting adj valves on each hydraulic line. Just an idea. Maybe you could figure out a way to get by with 2 rams.

I really like the setup and agree with the idea of outdoor camping. It kind of works like a teardrop camper, but for tall people ;) and off road :D

Thats another option, as long as I can find one with 36" of travel.

Yeah, that might be an issue. But I think the ones on my front end loader are at least 20", you might be able to order some in the size you need from some of these hydraulic supply places.
