Farmer, I have the Duratracs and so far I love them. They do whine a little bit on the highway though. Mine are rated E, 285- 75-16, so I don't have any solution for your d rating problem in the sizing you desire. Mine have the snowflake rating too.

My friend Mike(mhiscox here) has Duratrac's on his Earthroamer XV-JP and loves them. We got caught in 10" of fresh snow and they rocked(whereas my BFG AT KO1's wouldn't have).

After the Flood

I tell you guys, there is simply NO glamour in cleaning and refurbing a vehicle that has been in a flood. Ordinarily, I would just call a flooded vehicle a total loss. BUT, 1) Most of the sensitive electrical in the van was above waterline; 2) These 4wd vans are, in my opinion if not totally unique, then at least sufficiently rare that duplicating the function and fun (cool?) factor with another vehicle is not likely; Upholstery was all saved because the seats sit up on those little pedestals, which held them just above water line. Mechanic got it back to me yesterday, and it runs like a top after he changed all fluids (2 diffs, tranny flushed x2, Transfer case ATF changed, engine oil changed), and pulled all coils off the v-10 and dried water from the plug sockets. Test drove it these last 2 days and MAN am I Happy! Now for cleaning and reinstalling carpets. Got the front finished and reinstalled tonight.

PS: Don't mean to hijack Chris's thread here. Guess I still view the van as a UJOR build, and just thought you guys might enjoy some "after story" on how the build has performed in the real world, and what all has befallen it.

That must have been a horrendous site! Thankfully it sounds like you are recovering well and the V10 we share is coming back strong! We'll likely cross paths in CO someday!

Enjoyed breakfast with Chris when he Came through on his way to AZ on Wed. He's such a great Guy! I never would have dreamed When I was planning my 4wd conversion over a year ago, that I'd get a new friend out of the deal, from 1000 miles away no less. Chris is the real deal.

Hey Chris, look what I found on Facebook! This is on the Buckstop Truckware page.

BTW, what do you think about the quality of their winch bumpers? I'm looking for something for my F250 and have been all through their website, but have never had 'hands on' or seen one in person. I do know they are very expensive!

Not yet..... Need someone to help me find a spot!

Chris you're probably busy with and enjoying ExpoWest, so I figured I'd chime in...

I spoke with the guys at High Country Performance 4x4 in Denver. Since it's a holiday weekend, and a Sunday, the store will be closed and they don't suspect any of their staff to be there, but they are cool with us meeting in their parking lot. Seems like a good, central location, and it's in a quieter, more industrial area so we shouldn't have any issues with interrupting Memorial Day cook-outs. That being said, what time should we say? I'm definitely more of a mid-morning kind of guy, so my vote would be around the 10am hour. Thoughts?

Sounds good to me! 10AM should work fine. Lets spread the word. I have limited internet access right now so I'll do what I can over the weekend. Thanks!

Chris when you get the alignment done on these conversions what do you tell the alignment shop?

1/8" toe in.

Hope the vacation is going well, Chris! Sorry I'll miss you when you come through CO.

This is a question for the UJOR masses. I'm getting Chris's 6" lift on 35's for my RB van and hope it will weigh less than 9,000 when finished. Woohoo!!!

Pretty sure I'll go with the Pro Comp 7069 alloy wheels. Tires is another question though as the Toyo AT II's are on backorder for a couple months. I'll be doing easy to moderate wheeling here in Colorado in the summers...it would be nice to find a tire that does winter duty too because I'm short on storage at my house. Will be driving to Oregon and back and Iowa and back this summer so decent sound and handling on road are a requirement....want to stay away from MT's if possible.

On the radar are:

-BFG AT KO2's
-Duratracs are only rated D with 8 ply in this size.
-Cooper Discover AT3's are only rated D with 8 ply in this size too.

Of those three the Duratracs would be best in winter and I only really hear good reviews on them. What do you guys think?

Out of those I've only used the BFG's and they seem to do very well!

I have a buckstop on my van. They're a great bumper. I think my van is still on their website. They are heavy though

I started looking at them a little over a year ago, but they were in the process of moving and said it would be at least 6-8 weeks before I could get one, if I ordered it then. I guess I need to give them a call when the expo is over with, and go ahead and get one ordered.

Thanks for the info!! :)

Two thousand dollars? Two THOUSAND dollars for a bumper? No chance in hell man.

That's another reason I keep putting off buying one. I've been checking Craigslist for a used one of some type, but no luck. Lots of bumpers for Chevys but not Fords, so I guess people are hanging on to the Fords and dumping the Chevys.
