Yea, the cutaway would be really cool, and would have taken me an extra 6 months! Not sure of the weight, I'll guess at 200?? A buddy and I carried it in the house without cursing so I guess it's not too much. Lighter than I expected, I've already thought of ways to improve if I do another. (hide the casters in the block)

A fully dressed 3.0/3.2 V6 SHO motor weighs roughly 450 lbs.

An empty block alone is roughly 200lbs.

then add rotating assembly, huge alloy heads, valve train, large intake, + a few accessories...

It aint a light motor. Actually weighs just about as much as a small block 302 V8

The empty block seems lighter... I picked it up & placed it in the engine stand by myself & I know I'm not that strong!

Got some good work done to V4 yesterday. Finished grinding the frame where we cut the coil buckets off, installed the dual shock mounts, cleaned the engine x-member (oil leak sludge) and installed the front & rear springs.

From my experiences, death wobble is usually due to sloppy steering parts, wrong caster angles,or to much flex in the tie rod or drag link.I still think leaf over axle is superior to coils,JMO.

I agree 100%. One thing I have seen over the years is that ANY front coil setup is susceptible to Death Wobble. That’s why any good van conversion with coils always includes TWO large steering dampers. Do a YouTube search on Death Wobble and watch some of the fun with Jeeps and Dodge trucks. Like I’ve said in other posts, I did like the “Stock Feel” of the ride and good turning radius of my vans with coils but a proper leaf spring setup is far superior in many ways. My current van and all my future vans will be leaf spring front ends.

I wish I had a shop with a lift. I would love to do a body off project. I used to own a 1970 Chevelle SS 396, black with white hood stripes, that I dreamed of building up. Too bad that at the time I was without the garage or means to do it justice. Ended up selling it. Big mistake. Keep posting pics of the chassis cab project, so I can live vicariously through you.

V4 is on the ground, axles in, almost ready to roll out side for a while. Have some vans to build :)

I'll take better pics once it's outside.

Sweet Baby Jesus and Everything Holy! This thing looks awesome!

I vote for Chris' next project to be an E-350 6x6 as seen on unUrban's thread. Might not be practical outside of snow an ice, but would be really cool!

Ok,let me see if I have this correct. You're going to supply us with conversion accessories plus build us beds.Chris, this isn't logical. We need beds for the van, man.If were using your bed builds then the vans are sitting neglected. :sombrero:

So, did you decide if you're going with the LightForce 140's on the top or inset of the foot-rail? ;)

C'Mon!! 140's are so 2005, it's all about LED's now!

I think this is the LAST bed I'll be building that doesn't bolt to some frame rails :)

A question you might know......originally a 4X4 in the 60's called such because it had a 4spd manual (very rare then on US stuff) and was 4 wheel drive. When did the term become generic for any 4 wheel drive? And wouldn't a 6X6 be 6 wheel drive w/ a 6 spd trans?
Shouldn't a 4X4 be 4 driven wheel on each side......or would that be an 8 wheel drive.....hmmm:coffeedrink:mmm?

This might be the case where you are from but we have always know it as the number of wheels x the number of driven wheels. i.e. 4x2 or in the case of my toyota 6 x 4 (back axle is a tag). And our old Diamond T logging truck would of been 6 x 27 (9 speed gearbox with a 3 way splitter case and that is not counting the 2 speed diffs).
