Great comparison on height and body styles, Chris.

Body colour grill in the 08+ body or only chrome? I presume plastic, so it could be painted, I guess. I like the proportions on it, just a bit too much SEMA show truck for a van IMO.

Reminds me of the Tonka concept from the 2002 Detroit International Auto Show:

The never offered a body color grille from that factory, I haven't done one but I'm sure someone has. I like them in black but prefer the chrome if the customer decides to keep the stock bumpers. Nice polished or chrome grille ties it all together.

New arrival from OR, major refresh/resto on this Salem Kroger conversion! Suspension, axles, paint, lots of goodies. Owner purchased new and plans to keep it a while.

I'm curious about the SK van being converted to U-Joint. How different are the front suspension designs? Both leaf springs?

I have a friend who has told me several times that the SK 4x4 van his friend owns rides horribly rough. Just curious why you think that would be compared to the U-Joint conversion?

Its the standard "leaf springs are terrible" situation. Yes, both are leaf sprung but the S/K has the shackle up front and the spring is short. Neither of those things create a good ride. So it will be getting our progressive springs and the proper geometry. We've already had a few S/K vans converted to our setup via mail order, this is the 1st that we're doing here.

Chris, any further discussion on the coil sprung kit at this point; have you put many miles on V8?

V8 has been good so far, putting miles on it when I can. Need to bring it in for a ck up, have a popping noise when the pass side compresses. I drove V7 all last weekend and last week because of the snow/kids/etc and then went to V8, quite a difference.

I feel that the coil swap needs more attention to keep straight, soaks up some of the harsher bumps better, doesn't handle as well and overall requires more driver input. Now this may be because I drive V7 a lot more but I'm much more confident in it. V8 doesn't have a sway bar yet. I also may get it re aligned, currently has just under 4 degrees of positive castor so it doesn't return to stock like our leaf kit. Will try to get closer to 5+ on the camber and that may help.

I've been quoting a lot of coil kits, look forward to building more.

Built on a new long wheel base E-Series chassis with the Triton V10. I think you should convert one to 4WD and take it to SEMA next year :D

You mean caster not camber right?
Also, you have mentioned slight or minor differences in converting the E450 motorhomes, are these differences leaf spring conversion related or 4wd conversion related in general?
I assume a leaf spring conversion would be best on a heavy motorhome but will the MG coil kit work on the E450 chassis?

As someone who has put almost 6k miles on MGs Coil Spring kit I would like to chime in.

Wait for things to settle and it will feel a lot better. All of the new springs and what not feels very stiff and awkward at first put as more miles are put on it starts to feel more solid and firm but plush.

I am also not sure how you only have barely 4* of caster unless your using stock radius arms. If you have the modified ones you should have 4.8* at least.

Goodwaves - to answer your question. Don't pay someone to install your MG Coil Spring kit unless your absolutely positive you don't want to deal with it or don't possess any kinds of mechanical skills. Its not that difficult to do and if it was your first time ever installing it, I still think it would only take you 3 days max unless you have to drop the transmission. It will be harder to pull the old stuff out than it will be to put the new stuff on.

Edit - As long as my van sells, I am going to be purchasing another van and will be installing his kit again. When I do, I plan to make a video on it showing how easy it actually is to do. Many other individuals have done it already and I am sure they will chime in on their thoughts. Most of them already have in this thread.

Yes, typo. Thanks for correcting me on that. I fixed it. Yes, I think the leaf spring kit is still best for anything heavy that can benefit from a custom spring rate.

Chris if someone is using Ujoint axles and parts and having Ujoint do the install, is there a significant difference in price between the two kits?

The axles are a bit more $$ to build and the kit is slightly more $ overall for most rigs. RSC equipped vans have a decent $$ advantage with the coil kit.
