Holy crap man. Was there something unusual about yours? I can't remember exactly without looking it up but as I recall both of mine came to less than $1K delivered. I had to install but that was gravy work.

Thanks for the tire info Chris but I asked a poorly delivered question. What I was hoping to find out is which rim size offers the best and most economical choices in tire sizes, 16", 17" , etc. Good to know though on the Toyo. Those exceed the rating of what's on there now and I wouldn't mind having that extra bit of cushion. This things kind of a pig.
A quick search of my notes, produced the following results for 37" tire options:
Hankook's DynaPro M/T is available in 37 x 12.50R18D (#3415), has above average performance for a mud tire in all situations except ice, which can be remedied with good siping.
Cooper makes a Discoverer STT PRO in 37x12.50 and 37x13.50 for 17” and 20” wheels. The narrower in 20” has an E load rating, but only D on the 17” wheel. The 13.50 is E for both wheels. (#3750)
Maxxis Trepador TL30026000 has a three ply sidewall and is rated at #3525 in a 37x12.50R17D. It has a six ply main tread (M8060) and is made in Taiwan.
Nitto has a Trail Grappler MT in 37 x 12.50R20E, may reduce sidewall flex if loaded heavy or when towing. (#3750)
A 37” KM2 (17” - 20” wheel) can hold upto #3525 (17”
, good overall, needs siping for snow/ice.
Discover S/T Maxx is available in 37x12.50R17LT(D), 3 ply sidewall, M+S, studable (#3525)

The Toyo MTs in the 13.5/17 flavor clock in with a 4300# max load. That's 450# more per tire than I have now. Online I can find them at about $330 delivered which is a dang sight better than anything I've found in the 16.5 variety.
That's some handy info there. There's probably tires in there I'd rather have, and probably at better pricing, but unfortunately nothing that gets me any further ahead in load capacity. I'm frankly surprised that it was a 17" tire that did, and only because it was an inch wider than its 12.5 cousin. Go figure..

Oh right I forgot! So for an added cost couldn't you offer a 4th set of legs, plates, and 2 more lengthwise pieces to bump the rack the next couple feet? That would add weight, but not length to the package.

Yea, I don't see why not. We'll need to build the rack here on the ground and then tear it apart for shipping but thats not an issue. The 2 middle feet would have a small piece joining them.

Agreed, however I did ask my wife to drive past me when I first got them because I thought the same thing, she said that they were fine.
