Alright, update on the V4 bed! We've been busting butt pulling long hours and it's so much better than I ever expected! Justin @ SixThirteen Metal Works has kicked it up a notch, and I'm really excited about the final outcome. Now to the good stuff.....

Here's the upper pivot, it's all 1/4" aluminum plate that has gussets inside as well as being boxed. Pivoting on a 1" bolt. It's a beast, welded to a 2x4 laying down with another 2 2x2's on top.

Here's one of the front boxes framed up. All 3/16. The boxes are angled in from the top of the bed.

In place!

View that shows the front mounting system & plate. The front rubber mounts are on order, so it's sitting on some 4" tubing for now.

Overhead view of the front crossover box. This bed has a RIDICULOUS amount of storage!!!

We tied the fenderwell angle into the front box for even more storage. There's a lip at the front edge to keep items where they need to be.

Just a few hours ago we mounted the first rear frame box. it will be a crossover like the front, but smaller. How do you like the departure angle?????? The frame still needs to be cut, but I think it's pretty good!

Well done Chris!

Will there be provisions for lighting in those storage boxes... something like LED that's low current draw, yet stupid bright. Old guys with failing vision want to know...

Man you are going to have tons of storage space between the bed and frame. Looking forward to seeing how you build it to be able to access and use it all. I am guessing you had to build the bed that high for clearance over the cab with the XP Camper on there?

I like the concept, but I think sacrificing storage for a lower deck height would be more versatile. Regardless, it's killer.

Oh yes! Each door will have a switch to light up the boxes.

Yes, we have to be 41" from the bed to the cab over.

Like I said above, we don't have an option on that one! Now that the boxes are mounted, the height of the bed doesn't look bad. And the storage is great since I don't have a ton in the cab.

I Definitely like the added storage space, less clutter in your living space!

Yep! Wait till you see it in person, it's bad ***!

Chris - without giving away any proprietary information, can you provide the theory behind the flatbed mounting system? Is it considered a "European-style 3-point mounting system"? How will the camper mount to the flatbed?

Yes, it's a 3 point system. Two hard rubber mounts up front and one pivot in the rear. The camper has a sub frame that will bolt directly to the flat bed.
