Not to derail this conversation, but is there any reason a D44 or similar couldn't be used up front in an E150 ujoint conversion? It would save having to purchase a rear axle or use adapters to get matching bolt patterns.

Derailment is fine :D

All of our stuff is made to work with the 99-04 axles so it would make the conversion more complicated. Brake lines, steering, sway bar, spring pad width, ABS, etc. So, the savings wouldn't be worth it. And you don't really want a D44 under a rig this size anyway (my opinion)

Engine swap is done! New 6.0 puuuuuring very nicely. Now we'll lay down some miles before it gets picked up next week.

thats a good stance!

I like the SWB vans.

in the stock diesel vans, it seems SWB is a lot less common.

I am still looking to maybe find an 06-07 duramax SWB van for a conversion, but seeing this ford makes me wanna open my mind a little.

This one posted in the found for sale section seems like a smokin deal. I might have been swayed to the diesel side had I seen something like this.

I finally weighed V4 with the Sherpa and I'm happy that the whole combo is under 10k dry. 9720 to be exact, no driver. V4 weighs right at 8k so that puts the Sherpa at 1720.

Boy, that silver SWB passenger is really looking great - something about those proportions really nails it. Bummer you had a busy holiday weekend, but I guess it's better than the alternative ...

Chris: but the weight for sherpa of 1750 is with all the equipment, right? Like the fridge, grill, gas etc?
Btw it's there any isolation on the top, living, part of it or just naked aluminium?

Yes all equipment but nothing in the fridge, no water, no beer keg, port potty empty too. So I'd expect a few hundred pounds of gear when ready for camp. The top is insulated, no living space.

You guys work hard and build some amazing stuff. I noticed a Scanguage was installed on the 6.0l swap. How well do those work with a 2002 model 7.3l?
