You guys pulling toys. Have you all done anything to tighten up the rear suspension to tow better? Better put have you added a leaf or put stiffer springs in?

I haven't added anything beyond Chris's springs that come with his kit, and haven't experienced any loose or wagging behavior over 2 rigs (one ambulance, one RB E350). My tow time with these two rigs has included 6 round trips pulling a 25' enclosed car hauler to Idaho and countless weekend trips to local tracks in CA.

Any more info on the truck 5.4 swap? I assume it has more valves?

It was the same valve count, the yard said all we had to do was swap a manifold. But, that was't true. Lots of little parts had to be swapped but its in and running like a champ.

We've done a few vans that were setup for towing most of the time so we adjust spring rate accordingly. Since the vans are usually a jack of all trades rig we set a lot up with airbags to compensate so you're not driving with stiff springs when unloaded.

Quick towing question, I have the 6" lift on 35"s and Im looking at buying a single axle 14' enclosed trailer. What length of drop hitch are you guys getting? I was guessing 7-8". Any favorite brands?

I have a fleetwood e3 trailer that I have only really had a chance to pull once. It is only about 3500 lbs, but it has a really big tongue weight. My factory rear end with 1" blocks drops about 3 inches when loaded. I am running a WDH system now, but would love to get away from that. Bagging sounds like a good idea, but involves maintenance, and I hear it might impact travel. not sure if the "add a leaf" ideas are worth a try or not.

Not sure. The best thing to do will be to get an adjustable or get some measurements and calculate it.

Airbags limiting travel depends on how they're mounted. Most over the counter bolt on bag kits attach the bag at the upper & lower mount and that limits the travel to what the bag has (also varies depending on how the bag rests at ride height) Our airbag kits are a floating design so the bottom of the bag does't get attached to anything. It rests on a landing pad. But.... our kit only works with 6" lift or more.

I have your same setup and run an 8" drop hitch. This works well with my trailer but I suppose trailer hitch heights vary.

I have bags on a truck that routinely sees 4000+ pounds in the bed. In 4 yrs the only maintenance I've had to do was replace a faulty blow off valve. Maybe $10 and 15 min of time.

Sorry, slacking with updates!

Sterling 10.5 waiting for its friend Mr Dana 60 to get done so they can both get under a van in SoCal.

V7 is going under knife, in stages. Yanked the rear bumper & hitch to be sand blasted, front spring hangers have been drilled. Just picked up flares from paint, waiting for front axle parts & springs before we rip it apart.
