UJOR Build Thread

So I got the rear shocks from UJoint put on, don't ask me how I did it. All I will say is if we are ever stranded and need to install new shocks with only a rubber mallet, ratchet strap and wrenches. I can make it happen.

Shocks installed while still on the lift...
View attachment 341301Bottom line - if you avoid holes in the road with your van because your rear passengers glare at you when you don't, get these and save their brains.

The new springs will make it even better.

I did those rear shocks with just the wrenches, and I Swear to God I thought I was going to burst a vein and/or have a stroke in the process. Them suckers do not like to compress with tiny little girlie-man arms doing the compressing.

Chris on that Bigfoot van, is it using same rims all around or are they differences?

Chris can answer but i'm certain they are the same 6 rims, same bolt pattern front and back to. Chris where did you find a front hub extension that converted the 8 x 170 to 8 on 6.5 ?

The owner has done such a killer job transforming that unit into the ultimate 4 season family adventure rig, can't wait to hear more about it, hope there's a build thread or spec list soon!!

I literally laughed out loud when I read this. I initially tried to just push pull do whatever to try to get them to go my way but they wouldn't budge. I then thought about using a ratchet strap to compress it and thank goodness it worked because I would have been screwed otherwise.

The fronts weren't too bad because I could get over them and just lean into them, but the backs, hooo boy. All kinds of contortions trying to get under them enough to get enough leverage to compress, and sometimes I am stupidly stubborn about something, when it would be smarter and easier to find another way.

Yes, same wheels. Stock units that we blasted and had re coated to match the Aluminess powder.

It has a free spin kit that is 8 on 6.5 so the spacers are the same pattern.

I totally understand. I don't know how many times I ask myself, "Is this really the best way to do this?" You must not be that weak to be able to push those into place... :clapping::clapping:

Hey Guys,

So I am looking for a little help here from someone with Ujoint's 4" spring pack up front. I would like to see if they would work on my Advanced conversion since mine are pretty worn. If someone can PM me and is willing to provide me with some measurements of the springs when mounted I would appreciate it!

They won't. My springs are much longer, different shackle location, etc.

Chris, you typically do not show the interiors when you make a video of a completed van before it goes to a customer. I realise that you are not building a camper, but what do your customers typically do? Are these just vans to go "camping", i.e. carry people and gear in comfort or do they go somewhere to be finished into a camper before the customer hits the road?
