Cool build, lots of good info on composite panels and build techniques.

CoyoteThistle where's your build thread? You have a pretty slick design going on there, too. :sombrero:

Very busy past work week, back on the build tomorrow. Here are some pictures that show the joints.

IMG_0117.jpg

First the dado gets a bead of six-10 on each outer edge.

Intersecting panel gets a bead down the center.

Panel is inserted and then temporarily fastened from outh side. A bead of epoxy is then added on each side of the intersecting panel and smoothed with a gloved finger.

Saw the caulking gun, was going to ask what type of epoxy you were using, then realized that "Six-10" was the name. :snorkel:

Need input on tie down plan. The camper is expected to weigh about 350 lbs total. Add some gear and food and there is little chance of getting over 500. I am considering the camper more as a peice of cargo. I would prefer to not use the standard types of tie downs outside the bed.

What I am considering is a strip is l-track on each side of the lower portion of the camper (below the level of the pickup bed rails and use mounting rings in the l track to attach to the standard Ford cargo hooks.

Thoughts on this are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Don

Seems like something along those lines would work well, but is the track helpful? You could just attach 4 reinforced points to your camper that will provide the proper angle and proximity to attach to your bed mounts with standard ratchet straps. It would probably be a good idea to provide some sort of constraining and cushioning supports to restrict lateral movement of the camper in the bed. The straps will mostly keep it from bouncing up and down.

The thought with the track is to spread the attachment to the camper out over a longer length. Plus being able to move the camper attachment rings might help better secure the load.
