Unplugging the fridge

Hi All,

Is it okay to leave my Engel Fridge/Freezer unplugged between uses or should I try to have it constantly running? Is it bad to to do this?

Thanks!

mine sits off most of the time between uses and always fires right up when i start packing for a trip. mine is the edgstar, i dont know if a more expensive fridge is more touchy about that.

As a new-to-fridge owner this is good to know - thanks for asking and the replies...

And No, I don't need a beer fridge :ylsmoke:

You can leave the freezer / fridge off if you like...just keep it clean to prevent mildew / odor from forming inside.

I like to leave mine running 24/7 to keep it at temp and have stuff at the ready for any emergencies that might occur - earthquake, spontaneous weekend trip, etc...my last ARB unit was on for 12 years, 24/7, and never missed a beat. Sold that one to a friend, and got the new ARB unit, and it's been on ever since - same reliability so far :bike_rider:

Mine is on during late spring to fall full time, but right now with winter just ending and spring starting, it has been off in the rig since late fall.

It is out in the rig full time, and never encountered any weird smell or other anomalies when I fire it up.
Will be firing it up withing a few weeks.

Thanks! I ask because I usually drive my Jeep maybe once a week because I commute to work on my motorcycle. I don't want to leave the fridge in the back of the Jeep wihtin view of shady peeps and it's in my garage right now.

ARB fridge here and it's off unless I'm out camping, which hasn't been often lately, but it fired right up and cooled down quickly for last weekend! If the cruiser was a DD, I'd probably leave it on 24/7, but it isn't.
