HUGE THANKS!!!!! To Kristian and Jason for an amazing trip! and historic sail!
We are already planning on coming back next year with the kids.
We made it as far as the 'porkies' Sun. night, just couldn't bring ourselves to leave such an incredible area.
Then high-tailed it home on Mon. just in time for rush hour, ewww!
Loved seeing all the photo's, we'll go through ours soon.
And the 'gay beach recovery' in the end it was 'T-Maxx' that diserves the badge of honor.
Hope a recore was a quick process, and the only casualty for Ron's truck.
Such a great group of people, loved meeting everyone, so much left unsaid and done.
The only thing I regreat not doing was having a moment of silence for 'Tickleman'
, so please take a moment now.

Hope to stay in touch, and anticipating next year already!!!

Excellent pics! I really like the troopie on Brockway and the sunrise at camp.

Probably be a couple days before I can get any of mine posted. A lot of them to sort through.

Point well taken Pad.......
After a moment for Tickleman , I took a moment to count my own blessings
Especially after such an incredible week in the UP .

Well.......we made it home !
Cheeks were alittle red from slapping them to try to stay awake tho.
Actually made it in time for a quick nap before work .
Stu had to be at work at 6:00 am. . Real quick nap for him.

Great story about our experiences in Gay.
As the radiator came out , so did the truth about what happened.
I'll post up that story later with Amy posting the " Gay Bar " part of the story.

1st I must give THANKS , and get some sleep.

Thank You , Jason and Kristian .
What a couple of truly great guys . Easy going , fun loving adventurer-ers.
Class acts.....and the event certainly reflected their personalities.
Great job guys . Hope to do it again next year.

Thank You , "Gay Beach Chain Gang" .
Without you guys I would still be looking for a Bulldozer to get off that beach.
I understand that there was more fuel burned in that 600 yards than the entire event. I haven't seen the video yet but I'm sure I look really thrilled .
Thanks again guys , that was the first in a series of fortunate events that allows me to be sitting at my CPU right now.

Special Thanks to Ron and Jo , for hanging with us and getting us to the camp site when I know you had to get off the trail and on the road.

Thank You to all that tried to contact and help the next day.
A testament to the type of people that these events draw .
The concern and willingness to help was thoughtful and appreciated.

Thank You to EVERYONE........What a great time we all shared together.

More to follow........

Glad to hear everything "straightened" out for you after the Gay beach mishap Ron.

Oh yea, we made it home OK. A little run-in with, well, it wasn't the law, at Crisp Point Lighthouse that was the only sour note on the weekend for us. My wife and I had a very memorable time. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it was for us. It was our "big" trip for the year (and before our big move).

Hope something else comes up next year similar. Maybe that MN/Iron Range a few of us talked about? Maybe more/different UP?

Hope everyone else made it back safe.

I am already working on a North Shore/Iron Range run, maybe this spring, so that I will have another UP run to look forward to in the fall. If it happens again, I will be there. I will start a thread to gauge interest soon. Let me get my maps together.

I would definitely be game for another trip through the UP, across the northern shore of Lake Superior, and/or something along the lines of the Georgian Bay trip that AlekG did. James Bay would be an interesting group trip, too.

I'd also suggest that the powers that be might wish to add a GreatLakes chapter to the regional chapter section, as we aren't exactly a proper fit with the central or northeast regions...

Exactly what I was thinking. :REOutArchery02:

How about: IL, MN, WI, IN, OH, MI.

TX, LA, etc.- beautiful places but being lumped in with them doesn't make a lot of sense.
The Dakotas could just well fall the the NW chaper, or how about a Great Plains section or somthing?
