Ural with sidecar $9999

I've had my eye on a sidecar hack for a while...garage space being the issue. I like the Urals, but lots of folks have had mucho problemos with mechanical reliability.

My take...I love the Sahara and Gear Up versions, but would like to find an older one with a bad motor and stick a BMW airhead into it....I'd think something in the 75/5 range would be muy bueno.

Ohhh now that's an idea!

Anyone ever thought about getting an older Ural as the base, and swapping out a more reliable motor and trans say from a DRZ650 or even a 4 stroke dirtbike motor from a KTM or a Honda?

Might be something to think about, especially if you could find the motor to swap out from a bike that has been wrecked and they're selling it cheap

I've been looking to get a Sidecar for sometime now, and have done way too much reading and just need to do like Spicy McHaggis says and drop the wallet and buy one

Passed up on a 06 for $5500 and a week later when I talked myself into it, he had sold it a few days earlier. Always the story of a little too late

There are two quasi-adventure hacks listed for sale on the Adventure Rider forum that might appeal. Neither would work for hard core trail running, but either would be a big improvement over a Ural rig anywhere else:

1) 2003 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 with Dauntless sidecar:
