Nice the versions I've seen look like they attach to the hard top this attaches to the corner guard? Thanks

Yes, it attached to the AEV corner guards using existing screw holes plus I drilled a few more using similar rivnut AEV hardware for a secure fit and custom look.

It is now mid October. Where are all you guys with J30's at?? I love living vicariously through your pics and stories while waiting to figure out a way to add one of these to my Jeep!

Question for Ursa Minor owners: In the photos I've seen of the Ursa Minor top, it doesn't appear that the top has drip rails over the doors like the factory hardtop does. Does the lack of drip rails cause any problems? When you open the door to get out when it's raining, do you get wetter than you might with the factory top? Do you wish the UM top had drip rails or aren't they necessary?

It has drip rails. They are rubber channels that are 3m taped to the top. They work just like the factory drip channel, i.e. the water runs off right at the front of the front door..

Thanks. I can't see them in this photo, can you help me see where they are in this photo? (the photo has been edited to include a rear barn door, but the editing wasn't in the area of the drip rails) Is it that black line above the door that looks like a shadow?

Also no drip rails are in evidence in this photo of the AT Habitat camper. I'm just trying to understand how necessary the drip rails are as I'm making molds for a custom JK hardtop.

JSherb, here is a close-up of the rails on the J30. It doesn't rain here in Las Vegas so I can't comment on their functionality! ;)

Thank you! That's just what I needed. Based on that, I think I'll take the same approach with my custom hardtop project - I'll make the drip rails separate pieces and stick them on with 3M tape.

The problem I have is when I get out of the jeep, my hand always wants to go to that spot and tug on the drip rail, pulling it away.
But even when I reseal them, they function ( like JDaPP says) just like the factory ones do. All the water comes pouring inside when the door is opened.

Thanks. I'm thinking what I may do for my custom hardtop is mold a separate drip rail in fiberglass that gets bonded to the main roof instead of being stuck on with double-sided tape. That way it's secure enough so you could grab it like you say, but as a separate piece it doesn't complicate the mold for the main roof panel.
