I think it is possible to use Overhead console since the sealing of J30 is a little higher then factory hardtop. You may have to take into account the "bedroom" power switch being in the way ( the switch in the middle of the picture) but I'm sure that if you call John, he can place it in a different location.
J30 map organizer (it may sound like a lot of money but in the long run totally worth it) is a nice and clean storage solution.

I agree it is a great system, that is already installed on my J30 :) I was hoping someone had an additional overhead console system installed to see if it was all compatible. Appreciate the feedback, looks like I may end up being the guinea pig if I can convince the boss....

Another cool thing about J30 is that it is lined with carpet which work very well with velcro. I don't have any pics right now but I use 2 paper towel holders in the back which are mounted by velcro.

You can go places with J30 that you can't with a trailer. Also think about the MPG savings; towing over 800lb vs 160 lb penalty over factory hard top! You can't do this if you have a trailer

Please allow me to rub in some more ;)

We all know how valuable storage is in JK jeep! For example 2 thick (20 degrees) sleeping bags and 2 pillows ( that is not including sleeping pads or mattresses!) will pretty much use up most of the cargo area. With J30, problem solved; it all stays upstairs and ready to go in no time. In all reality the closest comparison to J30 is clam style RTT. Factoring in roof rack + RTT like James Baroud or Autohome VS selling factory hard top and getting J30...well it is almost even. J30 however has an advantage of being able to stand up to change clothes, use vehicle's heating or A/C to regulate bedroom tems (on solo trips I leave one panel open). Sorry for rubbing it in guys....:friday:

Well here's a stupid question

If the power switch at the windshield is turned to on but the lights are off in the pop top. Is there any power drain going on?

A little, the switch has a little red light on it to let you know it is activated. Should be very minuscule though

Also the USB charging port has green LED that is on all the time. The power consumption by this LEDs is negligible.
I think the main reason to have the switch is to be able to shut off power to the bedroom just in case you forgot to turn off the lights. Personally, I turn all the lights on upstairs before packing away and then shut off the main power switch. A lot of times I set up camp when it is dark. In that case I just pop open the bedroom, turn on main power switch and then climb upstairs.

Hi J30 owners,

Is anyone with the new rear sliding windows willing to write a quick review and answer some questions please?
I'm starting to think about exactly which options I'd like to get on my J30 and I have not seen a great close-up pic or review of them so far.

When they're closed how strong is the latch?
Would someone be able to jimmy the window open if they were determined?

When open, is there any flyscreen, or is the window just wide open to the fresh air?
Is it possible to open the window a small amount (an inch or two) and "lock" it there so it can't be forced open further?

If possible, it would be great to see some close-up pictures from the inside and outside too please.

Thanks very much!

-Dan
