Haha, those are tiny! No rubbing, indeed. It's got to be way more quiet and much quicker around town, though.

Seriously I giggle every time is see them now. But its def a whole lot quieter and I have already scene the mpg, power and the amount my trans shifts change already. Any little bit will help over 1300 miles of towing

I wonder what your engine RPM difference is at highway speed...

Tire Rack says 635 revolutions per mile for your 285/70-17 Duratracs, versus 683 revolutions per mile for Dunlop Grandtreks in 245/75-16.

I agree that you'll feel a difference in power and acceleration due to the lighter weight, smaller diameter tires. But won't the extra RPM required to hit 60-65-70mph on the highway offset that?

Let us know when you hit the road. Be careful and good luck! :safari-rig:

Well I do 60 every other day or so and my rpms are lower than they were with the larger tires. I have already noticed the mpg difference when I check my scangauge

Teaser from the road. We are a little over 1850 miles into the trip, almost halfway there! Just went over 90k on the truck and have been averaging 11-12 mpg. Been trying to take it easy going through the mountains the highest temps on the tranny I've scene on my scanguage is 223* for about 2min while climbing through a pass at 4300 feet. I have been averaging about 170*

Congrats. I almost moved to East Lake back in '06 but moved to Salt Lake City instead. I'm sure home prices there are better now compared to when I was looking. I had a chance to purchase a condo near the Olympic training center in '10 but it was still too pricey. I miss OB and Imperial Beach.
