UT_I_SKOGEN 80 series build

Toyotas are notorious for ground problems as well. Many of the lights in my 4Runner wouldn't work until I cleaned up the ground connection. If the bulb is definitely burned, then so be it, bit a ground may also be an issue in some cases.

Enjoying watching the build. Keep it coming!

Thanks for the info! My dad actually said the same thing, however, this bulb was very obviously bad, the interior was black and the filament was broken. That little guy is a total p.i.t.b. so I hope I only have to replace it once ;)

That's a clean looking rig (I'm not too keen on the rims, though. You should try to source some 80 OEM rims). My LC is a BSA troop hauler, too. Good luck with the rest of the build.

Thanks, it's in pretty good shape with the exception of the hood. The wheels are fine for now, and I have 6 almost brand new AT's for them. Maybe when I am ready to get new shoes I'll look for rims, but for now these work great. Had fun with the scouts this weekend, camped in Joshua tree and rapelled on Saturday.

I think the wheels look fine - but if they were mine... I'd have to take a black SHARPIE to the shiny little star things. Only then would I sleep well.

Lookin' Good

Looks like things are coming together. Glad nothing major after that little scare at Aamco. Once they have it on the rack they have you by the "short and curlies"...

Cheers from Sac

Haha yeah they are crooks. Glad to see you over here. I have some more things to post up as soon as we get home and I can sit down at my computer. Hope things are well up north!

Good to be back

It has been a while since I have posted anything on my build, I have been VERY busy with the holidays, driving to and from Utah and then a week with my dad in San Antonio has kept us very busy. So let me update you on what I have done.
I got the light that I ordered and put it in, now I have a gear select light!

Here is proof that it works!

Then I pulled off the distributor cap and gear so that I could replace the dizzy O ring. A simple job if you have the right extension.... If not it will frustrate you ;)

Here is the old O ring. Flat, hard and brittle. I am 99.9999% sure it's original.

The new one is nice and pliable

I think I could have taken more pictures during the job, however my hands were filthy and I didn't want to get my nice camera all greasy. So this is what you get. If you want a step by step with pictures, here is a great write up I found before I did mine.

bummer...

While I was out working on my truck I decided that I would investigate my front end. I noticed right when I bought it that the steering felt...off. At slow speeds it isn't bad but at speed, it can make for a scary ride. It will drift all over the place and try to buddy up with other people in their lanes. Ok it's not that bad but it isn't 100%

The beginning of my investigation

This what I found. And before and one comments that I could have seen this without taking the wheels off, I know. I had a suspicion but I wanted to look at everything while I was in there, rotors, pads and whatever else. So this is what I discovered. My tie rod link is bent. So now with the money I will be getting form selling my running boards that was supposed to go to slders.... I get to buy a new link. I think I'll use these guys http://sleeoffroad.com/products/products_steering_main.htm I've heard a couple good things about them:sombrero:

I think I'll get some new ends and bushings as well

And here is the last update I have for the day. Just testing out some of the camping gear I got form craigslist. That is a whole story in it self and I'll have to write about it one day.

And here is everything packed back in, a little different configuration that before, but now there is room for everything!

I have just a couple of poser shots from the other day. I have been ACHING to get off road. This hardly satisfied me, and just made me want to get out there that much more. Hopefully there will be a little bit of off road action this weekend on the scout trip to Anza borrego.

On a side note, It always amazes me when I see pictures of my 80 and it just doesn't look that big. When I upgraded from my taco I felt like it was a monster, and still feel like that every morning when I go out and start it. It makes those 35'' tires look like they are stock! I was thinking I would go up to 37's on my next set, but these just tuck so dern well :jump:
