HEAVY! (and not in a good way)
Most places it is illegal to run a actual axle with a Diff as a trailer axle. You are probably better off building a frame as well.
Fuel tank placement is partly under the cab so it is not going to be conducive to trailer modification.
You will also need to start with a long bed unless you plan to put a heavy tongue box on to get the proper weight distribution. Even with a long bed it might be wise to "Bob" the bed to make sure the 60/40 weight distribution is correct.
The truck frame is going to take a big drop once it clears the axle and as a trailer you really want the frame to come out in the same plane as the bottom of the bed floor to maximize ground clearance at the hitch. You are probably better taking some 1x3 box and just making a frame then using the truck frame.
Actually I had considered all these things, my brother has an 02 Taco and he looks at me weird when he sees me taking measurements. Yeah I had hope to kick the fuel cell back, add a water tank on the other side, considered the bed bob, I had also thought about building the frame and just adding the truck bed. Now this trailer won't be as much or even close to what the AT trailers are capable of but more to tow the an event where ever it is set up camp and either run the trails, shop for supplies, etc. I'm still looking for a military trailer and looked at one the other day but was way to rusted out.
