Wanted- series seats

I am looking for some used seats for my IIa. I also need brackets and seat belts so if you've got those too lets talk.

Are you sure you want Series seats? They are neither the most comfortable although the delux ones are not bad and as low backs they are certainly not very safe in an accident.

Defender seats, Jeep seats, Volvo seats, VW seats and a myriad of others can be fitted easily, can be had cheaper than OEM ones from the usual suspects, are more comfortable and safer.

I'm leaning to the stock seats because the bucket seats in there now are too large(bottom cusion too long) and make driving it very difficult. If the Defender seat fits well that would be a nice choice. I'm guessing you omit the middle seat with this choice for a tuffy box? I was already thinking of changing the rear benches for the seperate seats so that would look nice with the defender's up front. Hmmmm

Defender seats are probably the easiest to fit but collect a premium due to rarity in the US. I know Jeep Wrangler seats have a pretty thin base and I made them fit easily in my truck. Just take a trip to your local scrappies with a measuring tape and you'll find something. IIRC my Bestop seats are 22" wide with 7" deep seat bases. I have a 12.5" wide Tuffy that fits but I think to make the seat belts easier to use I am using a 10" wide console on my 109. I managed to get an extra 1-2" of seat travel with my adapter as the seat now sits up over the flange at the back of te seat box. This makes the truck just a bit more comfortable.

There's a thread somewhere on the forums that suggests Chrysler Sebring seats as they have an integral seat blet . Don't know much more than that.

I haven't found Series seats to be that bad, either the stock "elephant hide" or the Delux seats. For the stock seats, if you get them recovered you can replace the back board with an extended one to provide a head restraint. If I remember, I'll post a photo of what it looks like.

I do like the traditional look of the stock seats and the full set of plain black fronts are pretty well priced so that would just leave either finding some brackets or coming up with something on my own with hardware found at Lowes. I am trying to not spend too much on these so I can also afford some individual seats for the rear-plus seat belts for the whole lot.

Matt:
Personally, I think there are two major issues to consider:
1) Functionality- are you going to be using this truck as a major run about (DD or long trips) or is it just a weekend get-about with the occasional Land Rover function?

If the later, then I would so go with stock low back seats, as I think while the Series ... much like the Defender,... are like an erector set, ... which leads me to major issue two

2) Personal Preference: As a traditionalist, I prefer the look as they came off the line. When I had my series truck, you couldn't find elephant hyde anywhere. Now it is being reproduced and you can get seats as original, and then there are the "deluxe" seats that are pretty comfy.

Check with Dale on the seat bases. He may have what you are looking for ... shortly.

I have fairly good delux cloth seats in mine. They are pretty comfy, but the low back is not safe. I will eventually get some VW Vanagon seats in it.

Correct! My UPS guy is trying to source them new for me. I will post up once I find out. From what I understand they are not very expensive new.
