Ok, update. I tried on the 0201 Blackout and it felt really "cheap". It was very plasticy feeling as opposed to the Suunto, which is plastic but feels more solid. I think I am going to go with a Vector, but I found a Core for $50 and have to justify the difference. Those who have tired them why is the core $50 better?
You do not want the Vector series Suuntos. Our Suunto rep isn't even sure why they still offer those. The key differences between Vector and Core series watches is the navigation between modes. The Core series is "menu" driven. The fifth button selects modes. The two right buttons flanking the menu button make selections within the menus. The vector series is not menu driven. You have to sequence through modes as you would a traditional watch. Not nearly as easy to master.
The Core series is the number one series in the Suunto line as it relates to backcountry type watches. Great watches.
