water bladders?

I had a 20 gal. bladder in my truck under the back seat that was hooked to a 12 volt pump and faucet. The PO installed it prior to a trip to Africa. When I acquired the truck there was quite a funky smell coming from the bladder that I could not get rid of with bleach or anything else. I removed it and am looking for another option, thinking of a hard tank, stainless or plastic that will fit under the seat. With the bladder I worry about cleaning and sanitary issues after the bladder empties it seems you just cant get all the moisture out. A rigid or hard tank seems like it would dry out easier. I am probably being paranoid but I just cant get that funk smell out of my mind:elkgrin:

Thanks for the great ideas everybody. I found a 35L bladder from this company: http://www.yana.com.au/ on ebay for $70 and just ordered it ...

I normally carry 5 gallons with me, and this is 9 gallons and will easily fit in the space I have in mind in the 4Runner as I rebuild the rear storage area. I found better deals on hard tanks, but in reality didn't think I need 20 gallons and the dimensions weren't quite as flexible a bladder - that, and when I don't need to carry water I can take the bladder out and have secure space for other items (camp chairs, etc ...).

So, now the next question. How best to keep the water fresh and keep the funk from forming that was mentioned two posts ago? Anybody have good experience with the tablets sold at RV stores, or are drops of bleach the best way to go?

Thanks again,

Jeff

Any way to find out if the FJ60 bladder is also $310.00?

BTW thanks for looking into it.

Cheaper, turns out the 60 bladder is more like $225. It would have to be ordered by ARB aus, which would then ship it to ARBUSA and onto the stockist in need, so it could be 8-10 weeks.

Since water carrying options were in the Winter 2014 OJ, I figured I'd bring this back from the dead. Anyone ever get one of the Flexitanks?

100gal 'WaterBOB' is only $50. Build a container of the size and shape you want, stuff it in there.

I was just looking for a water storage option. I sort of want TiVo run a tank or bladder behind the rear seat in my Montero and run a hose from that to the rear with an on/off spigot for easy filling and cleaning etc.

Yes, I've had a Flexitank for about a year now. Quality product, great use of space and functions very well.
