I used to surf Jeepforum, ExPo, Naxja, Pirate4x4 and local forums religiously. I hop on here fairly often but the Jeep section is no longer relevant to me in terms of information and its generally pretty quiet except for the same handful of users. Forums are dying/dead, advertising ROI on forums is declining, it's migrated over to social media. Social media has a much larger reach across a wider variety of demographics and platforms. I hate Facebook and it's groups are filled with spam, AI content and a lot of trash talking but that's where the message board forum crowd went. I'm only on Facebook for marketplace and vehicle specific classified groups now. Younger people aren't joining forums when they're already on social media so the user base isn't growing like it was 20 years ago.
For a business, it's far easier to put your products in front of new eyes elsewhere. When every little bit of marketing costs money, you have to choose where it's spent and forums aren't productive in terms of dollars spent. Plus, it takes an employee's time to write posts, engage, keep content up to date. It's hard to spend enough time on forums to stay involved, it's just not worth the time.
I also had a hard time logging in a few weeks back, I was literally refreshing the page a dozen times before I could get in. Seems to be cleared up now.
