What did I get myself into?

The fact that Parcours had his tub bend got me nervous as I'll be traveling nearly 6,000 miles to Overland Expo and back from New Jersey so I decided to go ahead and strap it back into alignment and bolt it in place today as we had some gorgeous weather

My Actionpackers fit with 1/8 of a inch to spare and I put some rubber edging on the upright portion of the angle iron to provide some more support for the RTT

The bonus now is that for the first time ever, I can close my tailgate easily and have to bolted together very straight as compared to the way it was

Knowing I'll be headed out to Overland Expo next month and I have a long drive, I got nervous about traveling through so many different states with the amount of tread sticking out from the fender that I didn't want to run the risk of getting pulled over.

So I got some lawn edging from Home Depot that were on sale

Measured and cut and bolted them on

Hit them up with some Bedliner and they look great (drying in the picture)

Also relocated the license plate holder and light from underneath the frame/ fender to the tailgate for visibility and clearance

After driving to Arizona for Overland Expo West, I realized I hated the fact that the RTT was so low to the tub and that the only way I could access it was to open the tailgate and pull out everything to access what I needed to get. This became a pain, having to unload, load, and unload several times in the course of a night.

Enter Dave from Turtleback Trailers.... As I was already planning a visit to an old friend in Phoenix, I was able to connect with him and share with him what I was looking for and since most of it was already based off the racks he supplies with his trailers for sale, it was a no brainier.....

The end result..... Much more practical and useful, I was also able to free up a lot more space for storage as I was able to pull the spare tire out of the tub and mount it in its own dedicated space

Was in Lowes getting a few things and decided to walk past the clearance aisle and spotted this for only 99 cents so it was a no brainer.... It's one of those level that's meant to be attached to a post during installation to ensure its true

I attached it using double sided tape

70 years after it was built... the taillights finally bit the dust..... the wiring just crumbled to dust, barely any light was getting through the lens and it kept shorting out as the socket on the inside was just beyond worn out.... took advantage of the gorgeous day here to install new LED taillights and license plate light as I got pulled over last season because the plate was only half illuminated... this new plate-width light will make sure that never happens again.... It was a head scratcher at first as the old lights did not have an visible ground and the new one, a ground had to be run.

from this......
