What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

My front wheels started flopping around a while back and have been getting progressively worse. Last time out behind the house the right one started making horrible sounds. So I picked up a set of new Hub Assembly's and this morning tackled the project. Other than some issues with Rust things went pretty well and the TJ was setting back on all four feet before breakfast. After breakfast I was feeling cocky so I decided to do the rear brake job I've been putting off. That is where things went Pear Shaped. Upon disassembly discovered the right rear axle had considerable vertical play and the seal was starting to fail......grrrrrr! I know what it takes to fix the issue but there is a quandary. I really don't want to spend money to fix the dana 35 because I have a Dana 44 laying in the barn to be built and swapped in. Problem is I need the Jeep and the work schedule right now isn't conducive to major projects. I pulled the axle and as expected it is wasted. I tried sourcing a replacement shaft and there are none available locally (Eugene, Oregon). The dealer didn't even have one but they were willing to order one for $450.00......Uh....No thanks! I called 4WheelParts and got an individual that was very enthusiastic but not very helpful.....Grrrrrrr! Now I have Jeep scattered about and am waiting for Monday to source parts........Gaaaaaaahhhhhh!

Naawwww!! with everything on it? Are you getting something else?

EVERYTHING on it and inside!!
I picked up the old Equipt 100 series Land Cruiser a couple of months ago. It was time for someone else to be able to.enjoy the Jeep and its overland setup. I didnt get to use it like I did in AZ. SAD story.

I fixed a broken sway bar. The top bolt sheared off two weeks ago while driving over mosquito pass. Went to ace and picked up 3 new bolts and three cotter pins for $8. Now i have some spares for the next time. What a difference a sway bar does for handling. Lol. She feels ready to autocross. Jk

I hooked up my drip coffee machine to the inverter in my Jeep, 56 amps. Then I hooked up the espresso machine, 88 amps. Then out came the toaster, 99 amps. Also tried the cordless drill charger, ~5amps, and the jig saw, 19 amps unloaded. The battery monitor is neat.:coffee:

Not the Vector dock. I liked the Vector dock, but didnt want the hoop, and they only offered a short one (not all the way across the dash) when I needed my bar. I'm not sure if they offer the longer version yet, but I still don't like the hoop that goes around the tray. So I made my own.

I actually have a couple more kits waiting for me to get off my butt and post for sale.

EDIT: Vector does now offer the full width dock for the 2011+ wranglers

My mistake!
I forgot about your thread. I use your baofeng mounts btw, they are great!

I retired my OEM fenders and installed a set of Metalcloak Overland fenders, front and back. The fit and finish is excellent and I'm very happy with the final result, but the install was not a casual undertaking. It was a solid 9 hrs of labor, across two days for me and my jeep buddy. I owe him big time! These new fenders pave the way for a 2.5" lift and a new wheel/tire combo next year.

Jeep looks good PDX. Let us know when you want that 2.5"kit.

Added another battery to the house bank, changed my most worn tire for the brand new spare, tightened all the lug nuts, and ordered some hardware from Mcmaster.

Thanks. That Jeep was such a part of me and a part of my life that I cherished very much. It killed me to send it off with a perfect stranger but it needs to have new adventures and be used what I built it for so parting ways was bittersweet. I still love answering questions and giving pointers on the build. Thanks for the appreciation. :)

Thanks. I miss it too every time i look out to my driveway... The new owner promised that he'd keep it going on here, so I DO look forward to that. :)

It isn't at the bottom of a ravine or anything - I have met the new owner (through Expo) and I don't want to speak for him, but he definitely has plans to use the phenomenal platform that was built to get him and his family out and exploring. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of this rig in the coming months exploring Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Same here. I didn't want to let his identity out. He'll post up when he's good and ready. I can't wait to see how he incorporates changes and puts it to use. One of my many reasons for wanting to sell it to an ExPo member. :)
