Had my Gobi stealth rack installed

Nice! Looks good man. You digging it?

I started my Gobi recon install. Work & rain has been slowing me down. Voodoo11 is gonna help me finish install tomorrow. I'm stoked.

I had to extend my pre-filter tube as well (thanks mmccurdy for the info).

Pics to follow.

I love the rack, solid and no rattle or shake and no additional wind noise, plus with the weight it dropped the jeep about .5 inch and I still fit in the garage

Picked up my door bags. As soon as my stock "manual" mirrors arrive, off goes the stock doors and on goes the half doors.

so, my dad just realized today "oh I work in a multi million dollar shop for billy boat (ex indy driver) and I have access to countless machining tools and a water jet cutting machine" he looked at my XJ (currently flareless) and asked if Id be up to design some quality tube fender flares for the XJ and his JK then asked if people would buy them, told him the market for XJ parts is dwarfed by the wrangler market so anything new could be a hit, so he thought, well, what else could we make? so we may be producing prototype parts here soon and possibly starting a fab business, I'm thinking cargo baskets, tube doors (front and rear, not sure why I cant find any front tube doors for 97+ xj's" tube fenders, bumpers etc. who knows...

I had to clean it two times to try and get all the sand out from Padre Island. I notices all the rust on the JACK ANCHOR and the Hilift jack. They will come off and be sanded, primes and painted. I started on the rear rack to carry cools, gas and chairs. It will be attached to the canoe rack and set over the top of the spare tire. I removed the third light so that I can have the rack actually sit on top of the spare for support. Mainly when to kids climb on the rack to get on top of the Jeep. It will not have weight from the rack on it. I have half the rack welded up last night. should be able to finish it today and get it painted. Any ideas for an awning. Homemade if possible.

First post...

I'm currently building up my JK and recently bought a trailer that I plan on turning into a camper.

I've re-done my electrical, added a fuse block and breaker, isolator for the aux battery.

Wired the GPS and satellite radio to the ignition so I never have to worry about shutting it off.

I need to press the LJ back in to daily driver duties until my wife's ankle heals and she can drive a stick shift again. Took it out for a spin today to check everything out, kept hearing a poppinjg/cracking type noise when starting from a stop. Usual culprit is a broken bolt on the driver side rear upper control arm... a quick inspection confirmed the diagnosis. One of these days I've going to take the time to drill everyting out for a larger bolt, in the meantime,I replaced the broken bolt with another 10.8 grade bolt.

started the work on tearing my build threads on here and Jeep Forum apart. to much junk. (i like to talk apparently...) slimming it down into a much simpler thread then deleting the old, after i get out some useful info and advice people have posted, as well as things i have done to the jeep that i feel are worth keeping..

as far as legitimately done to the XJ, cleaned her a bit... <---those are the kinds of posts that litter my build thread

Located all the breather tubes confirmed I can lengthen them after the RR alu skids are on by tapping into them.

* hurricane stopped me from getting them extended this weekend

Painted my fender flairs. I made a big mistake though. I lightly sanded the fenders first. Every mark from the sand paper shows through the paint. And the paint is blotchy. I put five coats like everyone said to do. Still do not have a consistant layer.
