What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

^ can't wait to see it finished, looking good buddy,

today me, my dad and grandpa stood looking under my hood with a bottle of soapy water with dumb looks on our faces for the better part of an hour, tracking down where my A/C is leaking from, no luck finding the leak, so we threw a bottle of stop leak in that has a red dye in it. it is a really slow leak (bout a week to leak out) so this is probably the best course of action. I also adjusted the rear brakes for the first time, WORLD of difference. I can actually stop now, ALSO, laid under the front axle for about 30 minutes day dreaming and out of boredom pushing up on the sway bar like i was bench pressing it, just memorizing where everything is, looking at stuff i should replace, looked for cracks in the unibody rail (none) tried to wiggle the steering box, it's still very solidly mounted after 325k miles, talked to my dad about wiring in a second aux cooling fan, i looked around and figured out how i would do a "wire tuck" to get the wires out of the engine bay so i could clean it up a bit... cleaned battery terminals ( i need new cables and a new battery one day...)

come to the conclusion that i should get a new tie rod, TRE's, drag link, adjustable track bar, needs new steering damper deal, new strut/shocks (what is the difference?) new coils, new leafs, new rear shackles, u-bolts, complete poly bushing kit (quadratec has one IIRC), I will be buying a new cylinder head (hopefully comes with valvetrain) the head will be port and polished, hot tanked possibly media blasted, rebuilt, thrown on my motor, new rockers, rocker arms, lifters, rod bearings, main bearings, rear main seal, complete gasket kit.. head will be painted with high temp silver paint to make it look clean. new header and possibly down pipe, possibly new O2 sensor's... Just Empty Every Pocket...

Don't forget your camshaft bearings. In fact you ought to call Phoenix motors. They sell re-manufactured motors. They will balance the rotating assembly for $150.00 more. I had a local NAPA shop plan my head to true. polish/port and flow-test was $150.00. Crane cam H64 was about as steep as the ECU would tolerate and not light up. Tried ISKY and Comp Cams as well. Eventually went with HESCO's stoke kit for a 4.6L. 275hp and 300ft lbs of torgue. Great motor until I lost a automatic cooling line and the fluid caught fire on the Boral header coming up out of hwy 77 just east of Oracle. Boom! fire..gone

I'm lucky enough that my dad works on high end race cars, (k&n cup, indy, porsche 962 etc...) and one of his friends from high school is a machinist and he has built a few motors for a pro truck my dad worked on. so machine shop wise i should be covered and get a good enough deal on it. porting and polishing my head will be done by myself, I want to try it out. good advice on the cam bearings though, forgot about those..

took out my drivers seat, starting a write up on how to clean your seats in a 97-01 XJ. should have it all done by tomorrow.

Sold my Rock-Slide Engineering tailgate table recently.

Installed Smittybilt GEAR Tailgate Cover last night. Good product; crappy hardware. Ended-up using some quality self-tapping screws from another project.

Measured her: plans this weekend to remove 2.5" BB spacers, leaving 4" coils on the 40s. Should be nice to get veteran of gravity down some. Starting to modify the Jeep to more expedition-friendly form.
