watched the TJ episodes of Search and Restore, so I submitted an application for my XJ :D

washed and half waxed her (to lazy to do the passenger side tonight) also took out the battery, relocated the alternator wire that leads to the fuse block, redid alot of the wires in that area, new terminal on the positive side, just a little cheapy one till i can get something better, no more 12 year old terminal on that side, used my spare cheapy negative terminal on my moms dodge so I couldn't do that side, there was a HUGE difference right off the bat though so I'm happy...

Changed the spark plugs...pepboys had bosch platinums on sale for 2.00 each and the a bosch rebate of 1.00 each...so 1.00 for each plug , a deal I couldn't pass on.

picked up new tires today after running on bald ones for a very long time. mounting them by friday then leaving for a camping trip! nothing special really. just the stock JK tires, 225/70R16 mine were 235/70R16 so these are a bit skinnier and they look to be about an inch taller but that may just be because they actually have tread on them

also threw in a quick splash of 10w-30, damn rear main...sounds like it was starting to knock but i'm not sure it was a very subtle sound. checked the oil and it was in the safe zone still but could use a little more. oil change in the next month or two is due, and tranny fluid..

Finished the shelf over the fridge, added the chain (with heatshrink over so it doesn't rattle)/turnbuckle supports.

today, I had a hassle putting on new tires, took it to walmart (first mistake) the kid says "these are 225's, your door jam says stock is 215's" so i proceeded to tell him "yea...and it has 235's on it right now, no biggie" he says "well we can't do that, we can only do stock sizes, I'll go ask my manager" manager comes out and explains their "liability" bull crap, I mouthed off a little bit about how its a JEEP I can put whatever tire size I want on it, I'll even sign a damn waiver stating i wont sue if for some unnatural god forsaken reason the tires cause a wreck and it can be proven that it was because they were the wrong size, he just said sorry can't do it, so I said well, I guess I know where I'm not going when I mount 31's cause this is ************* ridiculous" went to discount name dropped my friend who is an assistant manager, got 9 tires dismounted, 4 mounted, 4 recycled 1 spare kept of a rim, 4 balanced for 24 bucks...better than 14 bucks a tire and walmart anyways...

half loaded up the cargo area with camping stuff, I NEED A CARGO BASKET! its jam packed, kind of feel unsafe, if i get in a wreck i dont want all that stuff flying out and hitting my niece :/ i think she is the only thing i love more than the jeep lol

oh p.s., the tires are only 225/70R16's off a 2011 JK so goodyear wranglers, only had about 2000 miles max on them when i got them, still have the little rubber "hairs" on them.

p.p.s. I probably shouldn't have lost my temper at wally world, I'm turning into my dad

I've had a slow leak on what has become my spare tyre and decided it was time to fix it before I head off for a month of wheelin :)

Got a mate over with some tyre pliers and went from there.

First step is to get some air in the tyre and mix up some soapy water (dishwashing liquid works well), dribble this around the bead and valve.

IMG_0729.jpg

Then look for it to start blowing bubbles :) They were easy to spot on this one.

IMG_0728.jpg

On with the tyre pliers to crack the bead. It was full of mud, so once we cracked it I got the air gun and blew the mud out and scrapped it with a screwdriver as well. You can just see the mud on the bead. There was a heap in there.

All nice and clean

IMG_0733.jpg

And then put the air gun on the tyre valve stem without the valve in it, the bead seats really quickly :)

All done, next to fix the tyre with the nail in it :(

Cheers
