What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

I gave my LJ a bath today. I moved it out of the carport into the parking area while it was raining real hard and wiped the dirt off it so it'll look great again. :sombrero:

I stayed completely dry in my REI jacket while my shorts and below were completely soaked. I've never done this before. I saved myself $5 at the car wash today.

Built an internal hitch that mounts inside the crossmember and allows the gas tank to still bolt up. I plan to build a trailer in the future to pull with this. The bumper always stuck out too far for me.

Installed new to me seats from a 2002 GC (WJ).

Old drivers was shot. These are a big step up from the Cherokee XJ seats! Rears going in this weekend.

Let me know how the conversion goes. I have been looking for a nice set of WJ seats to purchase and swap into my XJ.

Sold Poly Performance Baja Basket last week. It was larger than I wanted or needed.

Started plan to install a spare Rotopax Universal Mount Plate on the Bestop Tailgate Rack, along with a simple small grate or tray. Plan on adding another 4 gallon fuel pack; moving the water pack to the top for easier access.

How do you like the Rotopax so far? I am looking to mount 2 gas and 1 water (all 4 gallon) vertically. Probably using two mounts - 1 for the 2 gas and 1 for the water.

Any thoughts?

Highly recommend Rotopax. I used the water packs all Summer, and single 4 gallon fuel twice this Summer, just on local trips. Look forward to adding another 4 gallon fuel, or two 2 gallon fuel packs within the month.

Sounds like you have a good plan for mounting yours.

Received the aluminum rack yesterday, I am replacing the Poly Basket with. Going to work on getting the rack and second universal mount setup this weekend.

328,000 mile oil change, mobil 1 high mileage 10w-30, can of engine restore (trying to keep this thing alive as long as possible) Mopar oil filter, first time using one of these, usually get Fram tough guard or the extended guard. drove about 100 miles around town from store to store, had a tire mounted finally so I can stop driving on the spare. switched them out. emptied it out, and now am slowly filling it back up with camping gear for a week long elk hunt. lots of pics to follow hopefully...

oh also scared the crud out of a little kid. my exhaust is lacking the muffler due to the bushing deal breaking and the tail pipe slamming into the gas tank heat shield so I just took it all off, was in a parking garage and I started it up and well.. a 4.0 with no muffler is a pretty beastly sound. he jumped about 10ft.

Changed the passengerside (in my RHD XJ) today, the last one I put in 2 months ago and my 5 week trip killed it completely, only noticed when I got home and started going over the XJ. Put in Ironmanfab4x4 mounts, I need to modify the drivers side one as they are not the same as the LHD jeeps, shame not many people cater for this as i's a pretty easy mod.

Anyway, this is what 3000km of corrugations do to an engine mount!!

I changed the air in the air cleaner today.
Got rid of that nasty old comutter air and put some rocky mountain air in it. Jeep and I are much happier. Life is much better.

I took Red out to the Woods Saturday and rearranged and reshaped the spider gears in the rear axle :Wow1: Drove home on the my new front wheel drive only XJ.... So it gives me a new project for the week. Was going to swap axles anyhow, just motivated to do it a little sooner now.

Completed my new aluminum tailgate cargo rack (only 10 lbs) and installed an additional Rotopax mount to the passenger side rail; added a second 8 gallon Rotopax fuel pack to the lower mount and moved water to the upper mount. Water packs are still lower than the roofline. Getting ready for more remote trips in 2012.

well it wasn't today... but last saturday night pretty much totaled my xj. ALOT of trail damage and stupidity. however thats why we have insurance right? so its getting the roof fixed, rf fender, rf door, right quarter panel fixed. as well as a new windshield and rear glass. and since the roof rack got torn off, looks like a new one will be in the works. need to cut some steel and fix my rear tire carrier. however the hood is getting vents and black out now since it is going to need to be painted. the bright side, we made it home.
