Rebuilt the rear axle, tore down and reassembled the tranny, installed the freshly turned flywheel with new clutch plate and pressure plate, flushed the cooling system and installed new radiator hoses. prayed I got everything tight.

I think I need a bigger truck!
Picked up a 2 month old new to me Cobra 29 PLX CB with a 4' Firefly Firestick and a mount. It is MINT and looks perfect.

Finally got the trans installed and was able to drive it for the first time in 3 months. Then gave it a good detailing inside and out.

Had my alloys fitted up after finishing the gloss black paint job, alongside a new set of chrome lug nuts and a wheel alignment. I think they came out nicely.

Nothing done to the actual Jeep but it feels like progress anyway - ordered the roof top tent :)

Sweet hard shell RTT...always liked those.

Thanks :) First saw one on the beach in Oman about 10 years ago on someone's car... been wanting one a long time :)

It's the carbon fibre model too - so it should keep the centre of gravity down low. Only 37 kgs vs 49 kgs for the equivalent fibreglass version - and something like an ARB is pushing 60 kgs. And the air should flow over it way nicer than an ARB / Eezi Awn style tent. Now I know the Jeep isn't an aerodynamic sports SUV to start with - that's why it needs all the help it can get ;)

Wow, big weight difference between the CF and the glass one. Yeah, I hear you on the RTT, like my CVT. I like it on my trailer because it sits below the roof height on the XJ and out of the slipstream. My XJ is basically a brick...about as aerodynamic as one anyways.

I had friends with an early Maggolina back in 1995 ish, LOVED that thing, it was on their FJ40, zebra stripes and all!

That's cool! Any pictures? My other toy is an FJ45 :) Planning to build a similar rack on that so the RTT can be moved across if needed.

No, I wish I did...I think the frame rotted out of it and they ended up scrapping it for parts. Too bad too as it had a really healthy Chev SB 350 and a muncie 4 speed to go along with the aluminum tub and a host of other stuff. Loved that FJ. Lost touch with Chris too, good guy. Maybe I should look him up again? lol
