What does your rig weigh?

I'm just curious what the other full size rigs weigh when loaded down for an expedition.

My 95 K2500 Burb weighed in at 8040lbs with a full tank of gas, camping gear, and me in it. That was on a CAT Certified Scale.

4070lbs of that were on the drive axle. Pretty even weight distrbution.

Whenever I get my roof rack built, that weight will go even higher.

I honestly didn't think it would weigh quite that much. My friends 1997 F250 Powerstroke 4x4, Ext Cab long bed weighed in at 7450lbs.

Has anyone on here ever thrown their rig on the scales? If so, post up some numbers!

My Dodge 1500 4X4 with fully loaded FWC (except beer), nearly full tank of gas and me weighed in at 6,200 lbs. I guess my Chevy K2500HD with fully loaded FWC, me, and the dogs weighs in on the high side of 8,000 lbs. I haven't weighed it yet, but it's something I really want to do.

Ford F450 flatbed with a Lance 1040 camper. 16990LB. But that is overland ready. 4 group31 batteries. 50 gallons of water, one 20 gal propane on camper, one tank for the grill and one spare. Twin tanks air compressor, four bikes. two Honda eu2000 gens, Assorted air tool and hand tools. One Warn 12000LB winch, 50 foot of chain. 150ft of tugboat tow rope. 5 gallons of gas for gens. Fishing gear for four people. 100 foot of extension cords. electric saw for branches. Cooler filled with drinking water and ice. All that and the boxes are not full yet. I should have got the F 550??

4350kg = 9600 lb front GAWR = 7200 kg
8100kg = 17800 lb rear GAWR = 8500 kg
with water and fuel tanks full and camper full of tools, recovery gear, spare parts, stuff for 2 week trip including unmounted 2nd spare on roof.
Total = 27400 lb which can decrease by up to 1000kg/2200 lb as consumables get consumed.
When I picked up the vehicle at Unicat it weighed 4200/5700 with empty tanks and no front winch (which weighs 170 kg with cable). So I'm hauling about 3000 lb of solid crap.
The chassis/cab weighed 3800/2400, so the camper/generator/front smash bar evidently weighs 3700kg.

Fuso FG with Texson (Northstar)TS1000 pop up camper, full water and fuel, canoe+gear and me 11,300lbs. I was surprised I weighed that much since the truck with service body and oil tanks was 6920 and I removed the oil tanks and added an 1840lb camper.

Wow!!! Don't have a full size... but my FJ Cruiser in full armor and expo gear is about 4,700.

that's pretty good considering the curb wt of a stock FJ is around 4200-ish.

I need to weigh mine -- I'm just guessing, but I'm thinking my pig is about 8000 lbs with me and all my gear/spares/beer in it.

Hi:

My 1985 Toyota FJ60 (Sorry not dometic) can get to 6700LB when really loaded, I have OME heavy springs and just put in a FF axle. I now try to keep it at 5900 without the RTT and sleeping in the cab.

2007 Dodge Power Wagon crew cab loaded for a five-day, 400-mile overland trip: 7880 pounds (3,581 kg).

Full tank of gas (34 gallons, 129 liters), four jerry cans of extra fuel (21 gallons, 80 liters), four jerry cans of water (21 gallons, 80 liters), driver (200 pounds, 91 kg), camping, recovery, and emergency gear, groceries in the fridge, and personal kit. That gives me a 150-mile fuel reserve and it's still 630 pounds (286 kg) under GVW.

Loaded like this, I'll get 14 miles to the gallon on the highway on the way to the trailhead 700 miles (1,126 kilometers) away, with a 10 percent fuel reserve.

WOW! :Wow1:

There sure are some heavy rigs on here. Makes my 8000lbs+ feel puny!

I'm not too worried about my weight, but I do know that I will be exceeding my vehicles 8600gvw rating once I get the cummins, bumpers, sliders, roof rack, aux fuel tank, and water tank put in.

What air pressure do you guys run on the highway, and in what tires?

I'm currently running 315/75-16 Kumhos, which are D rated, and I have to run 65psi in them or else they bulge out a lot.
It's about time to buy more tires, and I'm thinking about stepping up to some E rated Toyo MTs.

Stock size tires on my rig are 245/75R16 E-rated and call for 55 psi front and 85 psi in the rear. I also run 285/70R17 D-rated and have found 50 psi front and 55-60 psi rear work well for me.

I have pretty much always run over GVW in my FJ Cruiser but an important part of the discussion has been left out, actually a few bits:
1) Are you solo or family?
2) Are you equipped for single vehicle recovery in remote areas with spare parts or running with min gear & hopes that someone else is with you or within reach?
3) Are your trek short range or long range (single jerry or lots of fuel/water)?
4) Do you plan to eat well or freeze dried/PB&J?
5) Do you require comfort when sleeping/sitting or is a 1/2" pad on hard ground ok?

I know that when I was a backpacker I had to stay light & lean since I had to carry it all myself. However I am older, softer, and happier now that I can sleep comfy, eat well, enjoy cigars & beverages in the shade of my side awning and play solo without too much recovery concern.

Of course since I am over GVW on my rig and I am not looking to change my style I guess I will just have to change my rig :)
