How bout RFID tags on all weapons...if found without one treat it like a sawed off shotgun.

Or RFID tags in the ammo...no grandfathering either.

A troll to you is someone that offers a differing opinion...I hope you see that...its called a bubble.

No actually a troll is someone who constantly baits threads he doesn't like trying to lure someone into posting something the mods don't like so they lock the thread, as an example of that read the previous 3 posts.

Stumps absolutely correct, even with gun specific calibration bump stocks rarely work correctly and are more of a gimmick than a useful attachment.

My aim is to get threads locked huh. News to me.

My response is a reasonable approach that allows evrybody to keep their weapons. Its the regulated part of well regulated militia.

Whatever dude. Its pointless with you.

You're trying to bait people into arguing politics knowing perfectly well that it's against the rules and will get this thread locked, that's what you do, just accept it and move on and quit trolling the forum!

Lets stay on subject and stay civil all around. He has a right to state an opinion, and you have the right to respond, but neither has a right to bring in politics.

I think NRA is beating around the bush until this calms down. For them to support banning bump stocks would lost them more members than they will if they don't support it.

You are showing your ignorance with that statement. Look up the definition of the word regulated as used at the time of the writing. :ylsmoke:

I don't think most law-abiding gun owners will care if bump stocks get banned. A bump stock is a modification that, while legally in compliance, does skirt around the spirit and intent of the 1986 NFA legislation. I think at least considering NFA regulation (similar to how suppressors and full auto's are regulated) would make sense.

That said, any restrictive legislation or even an outright ban would be mostly a symbolic, feel-good gesture that would have little practical affect on would-be attackers.

Firstly, in the age of 3d printers, we're not too far away from a world where people can manufacture these devices in their living rooms. Heck, we're not that far away from a world where people can manufacture entirely untraceable firearms in their living room. A ban or restriction would inhibit law-abiding citizens, but would do little to nothing to hinder evil people with evil intentions.

Secondly, mass attacks have been consistently carried out in many European countries (most of which have far more rigorous gun regulations). Attackers have used bombs, vehicles, and even the much vilified semi-auto rifles to cause similar, or some cases worse, carnage compared to what we saw in Las Vegas. Despite what late-night comedy hosts and politicians claim, there isn't some magic, panacea piece of legislation that is going to stop future attacks from happening.

Thirdly, there are lot of misconceptions about full auto fire, whether it via a true automatic weapon or simulated via a bump stock. It can inflict a lot of death in certain situations (e.g. shooting into a tightly packed crowd from an elevated position). However, in most applications it isn't as accurate as taking single, well-aimed shots. All of the grunts and spec ops fellows have full auto, or at least 3 round burst, capabilities on their M4's and M16's; most of the time they're using semi-auto mode because it is inherently more accurate than the automatic mode. Full auto fire is very hard to control and manage, especially without the use of a stabilizing bipod or tripod and a T/E. Anyone who thinks otherwise has relied on Hollywood movies and fantasy to form his/her opinions.

I don't want bump stocks banned. I think they are gimmicky, and not very accurate usually, but that's no reason for banning. People come up with legal ideas that get close to illegal without being illegal. If you let them take the bump stocks it'll be something else after that. I love what these companies are doing with "firearms" that shoot 12 gauge these days. Perfectly legal from some inventive people.

I agree, if bump stocks get banned it will be just one more little bite out of the constitution and the antis won't stop there, each little success on their part gets them closer towards the ultimate goal of totally banning all firearms, regardless of the facts about gun usage and the facts that the super majority of gun owners are not to blame for the boogey man fears that rule the antis lives
