Responding to Olsurfer's post regarding the CPS got me thinking again about what spare parts I should be carrying. With my Ford, there were a few odd things like a spare CPS that I would't leave home without because they were known failure points.
What should I be carrying that is unique to our trucks? (I have a 2005 FG 140 SWB) A set of filters, belts and hoses are no brainers but what are the oddball things that you would like to have if it was long hike to civilization? I asked this question to the mechanics at Portland Mistu-Fuso and they said you might want a u joint because that failure would stop you in your tracks. Most other things you can limp to help with.
What is in your spare parts box? Any special tools needed to replace those parts would be helpful as well (such as an 800 pound gorilla to loosen the lug nuts).
